Statins are widely used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia, as they inhibit cholesterol synthesis. They also have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and positive endothelial-functional effects. Methods: Fifteen patients with peritonitis were enrolled into the study. Serum CRP, IL-6, leptin, cortisol, and peritoneal caspase-3 activities were measured.
