Introduction: Salivary carcinomas of the tongue represent a therapeutic challenge as their radical excision is particularly mutilating. We aimed to study the oncologic and functional outcomes of advanced stages salivary carcinomas of the tongue.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicentric study, based on the French national network on rare head and neck cancers (REFCOR), included all patients with a T3-T4 salivary carcinoma of the tongue, diagnosed between January 2009 and December 2018.
Objectives: The management of the facial nerve (FN) is a major issue in parotid cancer, especially when there is no preoperative facial palsy and FN invasion is discovered intraoperatively. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of FN resection in patients with parotid cancer abutting the FN, without pretreatment facial palsy, using a propensity score matching.
Materials And Methods: Data from all patients treated between 2009 and 2020 for a primary parotid cancer abutting or invading the FN but without pretreatment facial palsy were extracted from the national multicentric REFCOR database.
Objective: To elucidate the prognostic implications of mucosal and deep margin distances in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC), and to assess a different margin cut-off value in T1-T2 versus T3-T4 tumors.
Methods: This single-center retrospective study included 223 patients who received surgery for a primary OTSCC between January 2017 and December 2021.
Results: Multivariable analysis showed that deep margin distance ≥3 mm in T1-T2 tumors and ≥5 mm in T3-T4 tumors was significantly associated with better RFS and OS.
Background: Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) opens new perspectives. We evaluated the outcomes for patients having undergone TORS after previous radiotherapy.
Methods: A retrospective multicenter study (n = 138) in a previously irradiated area between 2009 and 2020.
Background: Rare cancers constitute less than 10% of head and neck cancers and lack sufficient evidence for standardized care. The French Rare Head and Neck Cancer Expert Network (REFCOR) as established a national database to collect data on these rare cancers. This study aims to describe patient and tumour characteristics in this database.

Setting: A retrospective analysis was conducted on all patients prospectively included in the national database of the French Expertize Network for Rare ENT Cancers (REFCOR) from January 2000 to December 2016.
Participants: 103 patients from 19 reference centers were included.
Introduction: Laryngeal chondrosarcoma (LCS) is a rare tumor of slow evolution whose treatment is poorly codified. For a long time, a radical treatment by total laryngectomy (TL) was proposed. More recent studies tend to propose a conservative surgical approach of the larynx.

We aimed to provide new data regarding the role of chemotherapy and surgery and the prognostic factors of disease-free survival.
Methods: This study was based on data from the REFCOR database and included patients with SNUC treated with curative intent from 2007 to 2021 across 22 centres in France.
The base of the tongue (BOT) is the second most common site for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in the oropharynx. There are currently no clear guidelines for the management of BOT SCC. Our main objective was to compare the oncological outcomes of two minimally invasive approaches, transoral laser microsurgery (TLM) and transoral robot-assisted surgery (TORS).

We aimed to analyze oncological outcomes and adverse prognostic factors of UGHP SCC, and assess an alternate T classification specific to UGHP SCC.
Methods: Retrospective bicentric study including all patients treated by surgery for a UGHP SCC between 2006 and 2021.
Nutritional support during radiotherapy is crucial to tolerating and completing oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) treatment. The impact of HPV status on nutritional support is debated. The objective was to evaluate the rate of Reactive Feeding Tube (RFT) use and determine its prognostic factors during definitive radiotherapy for OPSCC.

These so-called rare cancers are distinguished by their presentation and patterns of failure, which is important to recognize in order to offer specific adapted management and maximize the chances of tumor control. These cancers can be rare by their histology, which determines their local invasiveness, and their hematogenous/nodal spread.

These so-called rare cancers are distinguished by their presentation and patterns of failure, which is important to recognize in order to offer specific adapted management and maximize the chances of tumor control. These cancers can be rare by their histology as well as their anatomical location when arising from the paranasal sinuses, salivary glands and ear.

Materials And Methods: we conducted a single-center retrospective study of oral and oropharyngeal SCC with contralateral cN0 neck. The cohort was divided into a midline-reaching (MR; approaching the midline from up to 10 mm) group and a midline-crossing (MC; exceeding the midline by up to 10 mm) group.

Background: Acinic cell carcinomas (AciCCs) are malignant tumours of the salivary glands. The aim of this work was to analyse data from the national REFCOR multicenter cohort (i) to investigate the prognostic factors influencing survival outcomes in AciCC, (ii) to assess the impact on survival of postoperative radiotherapy (RT) in patients treated for AciCC without high-grade transformation and (iii) to explore the prognostic impact of prophylactic neck dissection (ND) in patients treated for AciCC of the major salivary glands.
Patients And Methods: Data from all the patients treated for salivary AciCC between 2009 and 2020 were extracted from the REFCOR database.
Objective: Indeterminate thyroid nodules (ITN) are common and often lead to (sometimes unnecessary) diagnostic surgery. We aimed to evaluate the performance of two machine learning methods (ML), based on routinely available features to predict the risk of malignancy (RM) of ITN.
Design: Multi-centric diagnostic retrospective cohort study conducted between 2010 and 2020.
Objectives: To describe the evolution of the incidence of oral cavity cancers (OCC) among elderly patients in France between 1990 and 2018 and to compare it to the incidence of other cancers sharing the same main risk factors.
Material And Methods: The incidence of cancers in mainland France from 1990 to 2018 was estimated from incidence data observed in every cancer registry of the Francim network. Incidence was modeled by a 2-dimensional penalized spline of age and year of diagnosis, associated with a random effect corresponding to the registry.
Only three laryngeal transplants have been described in the literature to date, and none of the techniques has enabled a completely satisfactory functional result to be obtained. This article presents a new model of laryngeal transplantation, with quality of revascularisation of the transplant being the principal objective and optimisation of the various steps of the procedure, with the integration of a new reinnervation technique as a secondary objective. We present a preclinical animal study.
