In 1996, the German Dental Association (BZÄK) defined oral health goals for the dental profession in Germany for the first time. The third revision of the goals for the year 2030 is now based on new oral epidemiological studies. The formerly tooth-oriented focus of the objectives has been expanded to include both disease-related as well as oral health-promoting and preventive objective areas in the sense of an integrative perspective of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.

We propose a novel analytical method for mercury (Hg) trace determination based on direct Hg preconcentration from aqueous solution onto a gold nanoparticle-decorated silica monolith (AuNP@SiO2). Detection of Hg is performed after thermal desorption by means of atomic fluorescence spectrometry. This new methodology benefits from reagent-free, time- and cost-saving procedure, due to most efficient solid-phase adsorbent and results in high sensitive quantification.

Goals for oral health in Germany 2020.

Constant themes in the worldwide debate on public health policy are, on the one hand, the medical aspects, including those of social medicine, together with healthcare provision, and, on the other, considerations of health economics. Although it is essential for healthcare resources to be allocated appropriately, medical criteria should take precedence. One branch of research in the field of healthcare provision, the definition of health goals, is assuming increasing importance in this connection, in dentistry as in other spheres.
