In 1996, the German Dental Association (BZÄK) defined oral health goals for the dental profession in Germany for the first time. The third revision of the goals for the year 2030 is now based on new oral epidemiological studies. The formerly tooth-oriented focus of the objectives has been expanded to include both disease-related as well as oral health-promoting and preventive objective areas in the sense of an integrative perspective of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.

Health promotion strategies can make a significant contribution to the prevention of non-communicable diseases. The most important non-communicable diseases affecting the mouth and teeth are dental caries and periodontal disease. View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe propose a novel analytical method for mercury (Hg) trace determination based on direct Hg preconcentration from aqueous solution onto a gold nanoparticle-decorated silica monolith (AuNP@SiO2). Detection of Hg is performed after thermal desorption by means of atomic fluorescence spectrometry. This new methodology benefits from reagent-free, time- and cost-saving procedure, due to most efficient solid-phase adsorbent and results in high sensitive quantification.

Although it is essential for healthcare resources to be allocated appropriately, medical criteria should take precedence.
