Background: Ruptured middle colic artery aneurysm is extremely uncommon. Diagnosis can be challenging, as symptomatology can be attributed to more common abdominal pathologies. Due to the rarity of this condition, only case reports are available to inform management.

A comparison of the GlideScope video laryngoscope and standard direct laryngoscopy in children with immobilized cervical spine.

Objectives: Airway management in children with cervical spine may make direct laryngoscopy difficult. Video laryngoscopy is an alternative to direct laryngoscopy. The GlideScope video laryngoscope, successfully used in expected and unexpected difficult pediatric airway situations, has not been studied so far in children with cervical spine immobilization.

Predicting in-hospital mortality after redo cardiac operations: development of a preoperative scorecard.

Background: The present study generated a risk model and an easy-to-use scorecard for the preoperative prediction of in-hospital mortality for patients undergoing redo cardiac operations.

Methods: All patients who underwent redo cardiac operations in which the initial and subsequent procedures were performed through a median sternotomy were included. A logistic regression model was created to identify independent preoperative predictors of in-hospital mortality.
