CRISPR/Cas9 has massively accelerated the generation of gene loss-of-function models in zebrafish. However, establishing tissue-specific mutant lines remains a laborious and time-consuming process. Although a few dozen tissue-specific Cas9 zebrafish lines have been developed, the lack of standardization of some key methods, including gRNA delivery, has limited the implementation of these approaches in the zebrafish community.

In regenerating tissues, synthesis and remodeling of membranes rely on lipid turnover and transport. Our study addresses lipid adaptations in intestinal regeneration of Drosophila melanogaster and limb regeneration of Ambystoma mexicanum. We found changes in lipid profiles at different locations: transport, storage organs and regenerating tissues.

Axolotls, unlike humans, are capable of regenerating their lower jaws; however, the underlying mechanisms and their similarities to those in limb regeneration are unknown. Phylogenetic approaches are indispensable in any comparative molecular study involving multiple species. These approaches are in increasing demand as the amount and availability of DNA sequence information continues to increase exponentially, even for organisms that were previously not extensively studied.
