We describe a trans-aortic endoscopic approach to the removal of an LV thrombus in a patient undergoing concurrent coronary artery bypass grafting and aortic valve replacement.
Case Presentation: A 47 year old male presented following an embolic middle cerebral artery stroke and underwent transthoracic echocardiography demonstrating a mobile LV thrombus.
Introduction: In this study, we described paediatric sports injuries seen in the paediatric emergency department of a large, tertiary paediatric hospital in Singapore and evaluated risk factors for severe sports injuries.
Methods: This is a retrospective review of a paediatric trauma surveillance registry from February 2012 to October 2017, including patient demographics, type of sports, circumstances, type of injuries, and clinical management in the hospital. Patients 5 to 17 years old with a sports-related injury were included.

Monophosphate prodrug analogs of 2'-deoxy-2'-fluoro-2'--methylguanosine have been reported as potent inhibitors of hepatitis C virus (HCV) RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. These prodrugs also display potent anti-dengue virus activities in cellular assays although their prodrug moieties were designed to produce high levels of triphosphate in the liver. He subsequently developed a left ventricular (LV) thrombus which was successfully removed via a left apical ventriculotomy. Surgical management of LV thrombus related to Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is warranted in a selected population of patients and a left apical ventriculotomy provides good access with minimal complications in the post operative setting.

Hypoxia is believed to influence the metabolic state of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and cause phenotypic drug resistance. Using pimonidazole adduct staining, we show that lung lesions of infected rats contain regions of low oxygen tension. Our results support the use of the rat model for evaluating anaerobic drug activity in vivo.

Methods: Between January 2005 and August 2008, 21 patients underwent aortic arch surgery with unilateral antegrade selective cerebral perfusion through the brachiocephalic artery and moderate hypothermic circulatory arrest.
Herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection, though most commonly seen in the oral, perioral and genital areas, can occur anywhere on the body. After primary infection, HSV then establishes latency in sensory nerve ganglia and reactivates intermittently, precipitated by various factors. These reactivations may be recurrent and appear in a dermatomal distribution, mimicking herpes zoster, often leading to misdiagnosis if no confirmatory laboratory tests are carried out.
