mRNA vaccines have proven to be pivotal in the fight against COVID-19. A recommended booster, given 3 to 4 weeks post the initial vaccination, can substantially amplify protective antibody levels. Here, we show that, compared to contralateral boost, ipsilateral boost of the SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine induces more germinal center B cells (GCBCs) specific to the receptor binding domain (RBD) and generates more bone marrow plasma cells.

In this paper, we investigate how message construction, style, content, and the textual content of embedded images impacted message retransmission over the course of the first 8 months of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in the United States. We analyzed a census of public communications (n = 372,466) from 704 public health agencies, state and local emergency management agencies, and elected officials posted on Twitter between January 1 and August 31, 2020, measuring message retransmission via the number of retweets (ie, a message passed on by others), an important indicator of engagement and reach. To assess content, we extended a lexicon developed from the early months of the pandemic to identify key concepts within messages, employing it to analyze both the textual content of messages themselves as well as text included within embedded images (n = 233,877), which was extracted via optical character recognition.

In this paper, we capture, identify, and describe the patterns of longitudinal risk communication from public health communicating agencies on Twitter during the first 60 days of the response to the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. We collected 138,546 tweets from 696 targeted accounts from February 1 to March 31, 2020, employing term frequency-inverse document frequency to identify keyword hashtags that were distinctive on each day. Our team conducted inductive content analysis to identify emergent themes that characterize shifts in public health risk communication efforts.

As the most visible face of health expertise to the general public, health agencies have played a central role in alerting the public to the emerging COVID-19 threat, providing guidance for protective action, motivating compliance with health directives, and combating misinformation. Social media platforms such as Twitter have been a critical tool in this process, providing a communication channel that allows both rapid dissemination of messages to the public at large and individual-level engagement. Message dissemination and amplification is a necessary precursor to reaching audiences, both online and off, as well as inspiring action.

Background And Objectives: The national opioid crisis requires medical education to develop a proactive response centering on prevention and treatment. Primary care providers (PCPs)-many of whom are family medicine physicians-commonly treat patients on opiates, and write nearly 50% of opioid prescriptions. Despite linkages between PCP opioid prescribing patterns and the associated potential for overdose, little is known about how family medicine clerkship students are trained to prevent opioid overdose, including training on the use of naloxone.

Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook provide risk communicators with the opportunity to quickly reach their constituents at the time of an emerging infectious disease. On these platforms, messages gain exposure through message passing (called "sharing" on Facebook and "retweeting" on Twitter). Background And Objectives: Adequate and equivalent clinical experience is related to the number and diagnoses of patients encountered and should provide students with experiences similar to community practice. This study compares the distribution of diagnoses family medicine clerkship students encountered at a Midwest medical school during 2009-2011 with both 1997-1999 data and the 2010 National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) samples of family physicians and all physicians.

Methods: Electronically submitted encounter data (2009-2011) were compared to logbook data (1997-1999) and to the 2010 NAMCS data listing primary diagnoses at office visits in the United States by major disease category.

Background: Practice-based learning and improvement (PBLI) has been promoted as a key component of competency-based training in medical student education, but little is known about its implementation.

How effective these templates are at ensuring a complete report, as measured by a separate outside tumor registry, is not known.

Background: Cytology specimens of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) may be hypocellular, and the cells in CSF specimens degrade rapidly.

Methods: In the current study, the authors attempted to determine whether the addition of RPMI media to CSF specimens at the time of their receipt in the laboratory could improve the cellularity of specimens that would be processed 24 hours and 48 hours later.

Results: Compared with the initial specimen that was processed at the time of receipt in the laboratory, specimens with RPMI added preserved at least 90% of their cellularity.

Context: The degree to which critical values in anatomic pathology are understood in the nonpathology community is not know.

Objective: To measure the degree of agreement between pathologists and nonpathologists regarding critical values in anatomic pathology.

Design: A survey containing 15 anatomic pathologic diagnoses was given to a group of pathologists and nonpathologists who were then asked to state whether they should be regarded as critical values.
