  • Voiding dysfunction is a common issue after prostate biopsies, leading to significant discomfort, and alpha blockers are being considered as a remedy despite mixed evidence.
  • A systematic review analyzed data from 808 patients across six randomized controlled trials, focusing on various voiding function measures such as symptom scores and urinary flow rates.
  • The results showed that alpha blockers significantly improved urinary outcomes, decreasing symptoms, post-void residuals, and the risk of acute urinary retention after prostate biopsy.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in improving survival rates for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) undergoing radical cystectomy in Australia, where current NAC utilization rates were unknown.
  • - Analyzing data from 69 patients who underwent cystectomy, researchers found that while 73.9% were eligible for NAC, only 9.8% actually received it; similarly, only 44.4% of those eligible for adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) received it.
  • - The research highlights challenges in the real-world application of NAC, showing no significant survival benefits between those who received NAC/AC, and stresses the need for better patient selection and NAC usage instead of relying

Objective: PSMA PET/CT has demonstrated superior sensitivity over conventional imaging in the detection of local and distant recurrence in biochemically relapsed (BCR) prostate cancer. We prospectively investigated the management impact of Ga-PSMA PET/CT imaging in men with BCR, with the aim of identifying baseline clinicopathological predictors for management change.

Patients And Methods: Men with BCR who met eligibility criteria underwent Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT at Monash Health (Melbourne, Australia).

Malignant transformation of urachal adenoma is exceedingly rare, with intestinal metaplasia as the most common contributing mechanism. It is recommended that a urachal adenoma be regarded as a pre-malignant condition and be subject to endoscopic surveillance. A local en block excision of the tumor mass with urachalectomy and umbilectomy results in possible long-term survival.
