Observations: This multicentric prospective open-label uncontrolled case series included consecutive patients with NK refractory to conventional treatment. Insulin eye drops (1 unit/mL) were prescribed 4 times/day in all cases, and a Therapeutic Hyper-CL™ soft contact lens (EyeYon Medical, Ness Ziona, Israel), designed to act as a drug reservoir, was applied in selected patients.
Introduction: The aim of the study was to systematically review the evidence from randomized controlled trials that evaluate the efficacy and safety of perfluorohexyloctane in the treatment of dry eye disease.
Methods: Literature search was conducted on PubMed and Scopus in April 2024 with the search strategy ("perfluorohexyloctane" or "NOV03" or "semifluorinated alkane") and "dry eye." Extension and paired-eyes study were excluded.
Introduction: Despite an improved understanding of its pathogenesis, dry eye disease (DED) remains relatively underestimated and its treatment challenging. Methods: This interventional case series included patients requiring repeat keratoplasty procedures for stromal interface opacity and/or irregularity following DALK. The following surgical techniques with the aim of restoring transparency and regularity of the central optical zone and improving visual acuity in eyes that underwent unsuccessful DALK were performed: 1) simple anterior lamellar graft exchange, 2) repeat DALK with pneumatic dissection, 3) repeat DALK with deepening of manual lamellar dissection, 4) small diameter stripping of the central stroma-endothelium-Descemet complex and its replacement with a new endothelial lamella, and 5) 2-piece microkeratome-assisted mushroom penetrating keratoplasty.

Enrolled patients were classified as affected by DED (group 1) or not (group 2) using an already validated tool (Keratograph 5M, Oculus, Germany), evaluating the noninvasive keratograph breakup time (NIKBUT), tear meniscus height (TMH), meibomian gland loss (MGL), and bulbar redness.

Purpose: To describe the petal-shaped corneal pattern in a patient with posterior amorphous corneal dystrophy.
Observation: A 19-year-old male affected by Graves' disease presented corneal grey sheet-like opacities and high hyperopia. Corneal topography showed reduced k-values compatible with cornea plana and reduced corneal pachymetry.
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Bio-Hyalur LVD compared with Viscoat ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) in patients undergoing routine cataract surgery.
Setting: 2 tertiary eyecare hospitals in Italy.
Design: Prospective randomized clinical trial.
Objective: To report variants in 26 candidate genes and describe the clinical features of Italian patients with keratoconus (KC).
Subjects/methods: Sixty-four patients with a confirmed diagnosis of KC were enrolled in this genetic association study. Patients were classified into two study groups according to whether they had a confirmed diagnosis of progressive or stable KC.
Ocular complications can occur in up to 90% of patients with blood malignancies. Such complications range from direct infiltration to local hemostatic imbalance and treatment-related toxicity. This narrative review is based on a systematic computerized search of the literature conducted until January 2024 and examines the common ocular complications associated with blood cancers.

In this report, two rare cases of large atrophic peripheral retinal holes are described. Both patients presented during a routine visit without reporting any ocular symptoms. The holes did not exhibit significant risk factors for progression to rhegmatogenous retinal detachment: No signs of posterior vitreous detachment, vitreoretinal tractions, or retinal degeneration were visible.
