Background And Purpose: Improving understanding of study contents and procedures might enhance recruitment into studies and retention during follow-up. However, data in stroke patients on understanding of the informed consent (IC) procedure are sparse.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study among ischemic stroke patients taking part in the IC procedure of an ongoing cluster-randomized secondary prevention trial.
Bone and soft-tissue sarcomas express fibroblast activation protein (FAP) on tumor cells and associated fibroblasts. Therefore, FAP is a promising therapeutic and diagnostic target. Novel radiolabeled FAP inhibitors (e.

However, a major concern is the possibility of microbial contamination in the absence of a fully functional immune system. Here, we report a standardized approach to maintain sterility during normothermic liver machine perfusion of porcine livers for one week.

Opioid-related mortality increased by nearly 400% between 2000 and 2018. In response, federal, state, and local governments have enacted a heterogeneous collection of opioid-related policies in an effort to reverse the opioid crisis, producing a policy landscape that is both complex and dynamic. Correspondingly, there has been a rise in opioid-policy related evaluation studies, as policymakers and other stakeholders seek to understand which policies are most effective.

Methods: Our unit of analysis -- three-digit ZIP codes ("ZIP3s") -- was classified into quintiles based on percentage of White residents. A weighted linear regression model of buprenorphine distribution -- including White resident quintile, waivered prescriber rate, overdose rate, sociodemographic factors, and year fixed effects -- was estimated using national buprenorphine distribution data from 2007 to 2017.
Objective: BRAF mutations have been subtyped in three functional classes with different oncogenic modes of action. The clinical impact of BRAF mutational subtypes in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains to be defined. So far, ambiguous results were reported from analyses of heterogeneous patient cohorts.

For topical drugs, there is no standard method for measuring drug concentrations in the stratum basale of the viable epidermis. This is particularly important since the superficial part of the epidermis, the stratum corneum (SC), is nonviable and where most of a topically applied drug remains, never penetrating deeper into the skin.

Lower HL is associated with poorer psychosocial health. However, there are no studies so far evaluating the impact of HL within oncological rehabilitation in Germany.

Methods: Using 2008-2016 National Survey of Drug Use and Health data, latent class analysis (LCA) was used to characterize depression subtypes (based on symptom presentation) among 9,896 youth ages 12-17 with recent first-onset MDE. Logistic regression was used to estimate associations of MDE subtype with functional outcomes and treatment utilization, adjusting for demographic characteristics and depression severity (i.
Background: Despite the availability of effective pharmaceutical treatment options, many patients with asthma do not manage to control their illness. This randomized trial with a waiting-list control group examined whether a 3-week course of inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) improves asthma control (primary endpoint) and other secondary endpoints (e.g.

An inability to do so may inhibit role development and result in difficult transitions to practice. A constructivist approach was utilized in the development of a new model that describes the process of learning and role development in the clinical and simulation setting.

Recently, a novel liver perfusion machine that can keep injured liver grafts alive for 1 week ex vivo was developed and reported in Nature Biotechnology. However, liver viability assessment ex vivo is an unsolved issue and the value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET/CT for such purpose was explored.

Despite the burden mis-localized mitochondrial precursors place on cells, our understanding of the systems that dispose of these proteins is incomplete. Here, we cataloged the location and steady-state abundance of mitochondrial precursor proteins during mitochondrial impairment in .

These circumstances presented many challenges for higher education faculty and students around the world but especially for nursing education programs which are traditionally conducted in a face-to-face learning environment that includes hands-on experiential learning.
Methods: Guided by Meleis' Transition Theory, a qualitative descriptive design was utilized to explore prelicensure nursing students' experiences of the transition to remote learning during the Spring 2020 semester.
Purpose: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major health-care burden. Increasing evidence suggests that a considerable proportion of patients are affected by a monogenic kidney disorder.
Methods: In this study, the kidney transplantation waiting list at the Charité was screened for patients with undetermined cause of CKD.
The integrative Physical Activity-related Health Competence (PAHCO) model specifies competences (movement competence, control competence, and self-regulation competence) that enable people to lead a physically active lifestyle. This longitudinal study analyses the predictive quality of a multidimensional PAHCO assessment for levels of physical activity (PA) and their relevance for quality of life in COPD patients after pulmonary rehabilitation. At the end of an inpatient pulmonary rehabilitation (T2), 350 COPD patients participating in the Stay Active after Rehabilitation (STAR) study underwent assessments, including a six-factor measurement of PAHCO.

Methods: Data on 1,117,086 individuals age 12 and older were from the 1999-2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. We compared relative prevalences across 6 racial/ethnic groups for prescription opioid misuse analyses and 4 racial/ethnic groups for heroin analyses.
Purpose: BAY1436032, an inhibitor of mutant isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (mIDH1), was active against multiple IDH1-R132X solid tumors in preclinical models. This first-in-human study was designed to determine the safety and pharmacokinetics of BAY1436032, and to evaluate its potential pharmacodynamics and antitumor effects.

The web-based app Troubled Desire aims to address this shortage by offering self-assessments and self-management training modules in different languages to individuals with sexual interests in prepubescent and early pubescent children (ie, those with pedophilic and hebephiliac sexual interest, respectively).
Objective: The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics of the users of the Troubled Desire app.
