Purpose: Preclinical models of cutaneous wound healing can be useful for improving clinical wound care. Oxygen Enhanced Photoacoustic imaging (OE PAI) can measure oxygenation, and Dynamic Contrast Enhanced (DCE) PAI can measure vascular perfusion. We investigated how a combined OE-DCE PAI protocol can measure vascular oxygenation and perfusion to a cutaneous healing model.

We evaluated the Nugent score against a multiplex real-time PCR (reference) for diagnosing bacterial vaginosis (BV) in 140 pregnant women. The Nugent score had a sensitivity of 60 %, a specificity of 81 % and a negative predictive value of 92 % - therefore a tool to rule out BV in pregnant women.

Here, we show how a decentralized BC incubation connected to the central BC incubators via a browser-based application significantly reduces turnaround times.

We sought to develop Oxygen Enhanced (OE) EPRI that measures tumor pO with breathing gases of 21% O (pO) and 100% O (pO), and the differences in pO between breathing gases (ΔpO). We applied OE EPRI to study the early change in tumor pathophysiology in response to radiotherapy in two tumor models of pancreatic cancer.

We present a patient who suffered an agricultural rollover trauma and developed a fracture-associated tissue infection caused by Mycobacterium smegmatis. Since cases are rare, treatment of infections with M. smegmatis requires an interprofessional approach and the combination of surgery and adjunctive antimicrobial treatment.

The SAC induces mitotic arrest by inhibiting the anaphase-promoting complex (APC) via the mitotic checkpoint complex (MCC). The MCC component MAD2 neutralizes the critical APC cofactor, CDC20, preventing exit from mitosis.

Current research aims to clarify if extra centrosomes are cause or consequence of malignant transformation, and if their biogenesis can be targeted for therapy. Here, we show that oncogene-driven blood cancer is inert to genetic manipulation of centrosome numbers, whereas the formation of DNA damage-induced malignancies is delayed.

This study aimed to investigate duplications of plasmid-encoded ESBL genes and their impact on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) phenotypes in clinical and screening isolates.
Methods: Multi-drug-resistant bacteria from hospitalized patients were collected during routine clinical surveillance from January 2022 to June 2023, and their antimicrobial susceptibility patterns were determined.
Mass spectrometry (MS) has advanced greatly and many of its applications are ready for utilization within regulatory procedures and could significantly contribute to overcome challenges in standardization of allergen products. It seems sensible to discuss MS within the regulatory framework, before addressing technical questions. While the application to purified proteins is well established from product development to manufacturer's release analytics, its application to complex products such as allergen products is still under development.

Recently, we recorded an increase of bla-harboring isolates at our hospital associated with patients with previous medical treatment in the Ukraine. We used long-read whole genome sequencing (lrWGS) to characterize these isolates including their plasmids.

The study compared the drip-and-ship with the mothership paradigm in regions where a local thrombolysis center can be reached faster than the nearest intervention center (equipoise region). The present study aims to determine the population-based applicability of the results of the RACECAT study to 4 stroke networks with a different degree of clustering of the intervention centers (clustered, dispersed).

Here, we investigated clinical isolates of linezolid-resistant (LRSE) collected from blood cultures at the University Hospital Münster (UHM) during the period 2020-2022. All detected isolates were subjected to whole genome sequencing (WGS) and the relatedness of the isolates was determined using core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST).

Each of the 250 stool samples was analyzed for the presence of stx1/2 and eae both with and without pre-PCR enrichment in selective broth. In comparison to a reference method, sensitivities for stx1/2 and eae with and without pre-PCR enrichment were 84% (95%CI 70-93) and 89% (stx1/2, 95%CI 76-96), and 71% (95%CI 58-81) and 72% (eae, 95%CI 60-82), respectively.

Obtaining high quality small animal PET/MRI results is key for the translation of novel PET/MRI agents and techniques to the radiology clinic. To obtain high quality imaging results, a hybrid PET/MRI system requires additional considerations beyond the standard issues with separate PET and MRI systems.

Cancer cells deficient in p53 tumor suppressor function reportedly develop a strong dependency on CHK1 for proper cell cycle progression and maintenance of genome integrity, sparking interest in developing kinase inhibitors. Pharmacological inhibition of CHK1 triggers B-Cell CLL/Lymphoma 2 (BCL2)-regulated cell death in malignant cells largely independently of p53, and has been suggested to kill p53-deficient cancer cells even more effectively.

The correct use of personal protective equipment, especially the application of masks, was quickly identified as priority to reduce transmission with this pathogen. Here, we report a nosocomial cluster of methicillin-resistant (MRSA) that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic in a gynecology/obstetrics department, despite these intensified contact precautions.

Here were present whole genome sequencing (WGS) data of two MDRB isolates, an and a which were isolated from a single patient. Detailed analysis of long-read sequencing data identified an identical F2:A-:B- lncFII plasmid containing in both isolates, suggesting horizontal plasmid exchange between the two species.

Despite these useful applications, there are few methods for non-invasively measuring tumor extracellular pH, and none are routinely used in clinics. Responsive MRI contrast agents have been developed, and they undergo a change in MRI signal with pH.
