We introduce a novel material for integrated photonics and investigate aluminum gallium nitride (AlGaN) on aluminum nitride (AlN) templates as a platform for developing reconfigurable and on-chip nonlinear optical devices. AlGaN combines compatibility with standard photonic fabrication technologies and high electro-optic modulation capabilities with low loss over a broad spectral range, from UVC to long-wave infrared, making it a viable material for complex photonic applications. In this work, we design and grow AlGaN/AlN heterostructures and integrate several photonic components.

Persuasive appeals frequently prove ineffective or produce unintended outcomes, due to the presence of motivated reasoning. Using the example of electric cars adoption, this research delves into the impact of emotional content, message valence, and the coherence of pre-existing attitudes on biased information evaluation. By conducting a factorial survey (N = 480) and incorporating a computational model of attitude formation, we aim to gain a deeper insight into the cognitive-affective mechanisms driving motivated reasoning.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is the best curative treatment modality for many malignant hematologic disorders. In the absence of a matched related donor, matched unrelated donors (MUDs) and haploidentical donors are the most important stem cell sources. In this registry-based retrospective study, we compared the outcomes of allo-HSCTs from 10/10 MUDs with antithymocyte globulin (ATG)-based regimens (n = 7050) vs haploidentical transplants (Haplo-Tx) using posttransplant cyclophosphamide (PT-CY Haplo; n = 487) in adult patients with hematologic malignancies between 2010 and 2020.

The ecosystem of brain tumors is considered immunosuppressed, but our current knowledge may be incomplete. Here we analyzed clinical cell and tissue specimens derived from patients presenting with glioblastoma or nonmalignant intracranial disease to report that the cranial bone (CB) marrow, in juxtaposition to treatment-naive glioblastoma tumors, harbors active lymphoid populations at the time of initial diagnosis. Clinical and anatomical imaging, single-cell molecular and immune cell profiling and quantification of tumor reactivity identified CD8 T cell clonotypes in the CB that were also found in the tumor.

The aim of this study is to develop a test bench, which integrates different complexity levels and enables in that way a flexible and dynamic testing for mid and long term intervals as well as testing of maximum loads till implant failure of different osteosynthesis systems on the mandible. Background: CAR-T cell therapy has shown impressive results and is now part of standard-of-care treatment of B-lineage malignancies, whereas the treatment of myeloid diseases has been limited by the lack of suitable targets. CD45 is expressed on almost all types of blood cells including myeloid leukemia cells, but not on non-hematopoietic tissue, making it a potential target for CAR-directed therapy. Because of its high expression on T and NK cells, fratricide is expected to hinder CD45CAR-mediated therapy.
