The haemodynamic and cardiac side effects of the new non-ionic contrast medium, iohexol, were investigated anaesthetized rats and isolated perfused rabbit hearts. Iohexol, caused a positive inotropic response in both models, elevated coronary flow and in high doses had an inhibitory influence on the cardiac conducting system. From a comparison with Amipaque and Urografin 76 it was concluded that with respect to cardiac side effects iohexol can be ranked between these media.

However, another trap line adjacent to a nearby residential area yielded four Norway rats in 510 trap-nights. These results suggest that rats living in or near homes were not crossing the fields to reach the landfill.

The occurrence of this tumour in the esophagus is a rarity.--On occasion of gastroesophagoscopy of a 33-years old man we found an almost pea-sized polypous esophageal granular cell tumour, wich was completely removed with the diathermic electrosurgical snare.

They correlated with free interval, metastatic spreading, alkaline phosphatase (AP) and gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (gamma-GT).

Photographic documentation of peritoneoscopic findings is technically well developped, relatively easy to perform, and should be used, as a routine procedure. There are different methods available. The polaroid method is the method of choice, when a paper copy with adequate technical quality is needed at once; this is especially useful for the pathologist, who may evaluate polaroid copies along with bioptic material.

During this time, a number of different beta-blockers with various degrees of selectivity, potency and intrinsic sympathomimetic effect have come into use. There have also been attempts to reduce the number of daily doses in beta-adrenoceptor blocking therapy while maintaining the antihypertensive effect [5].

In case of vascular infection the excision of the graft is urgent, "extraanatomic" reconstruction can prevent loss of limb and live.

Although difficult, recurrent forms of pterygium are seldom seen in central Europe, they cause considerable therapeutic problems because they cannot be cured by simple dissection and conjunctivoplasty. A useful method of treatment in these cases is the marginal, lamellar keratoplasty, which, according to the type of involvement, can take the shape of a sector, ring, horseshoe, or semicircle. If the pterygium is extensive and affects the center of the cornea, a subtotal, lamellar keratoplasty can be performed.

Samples of pediatricians (N = 50), general practitioners (N = 50) and doctors of a children's hospital (N = 30) were asked to rate the intensity of children's anxiety for 15 items of routine medical performances. In addition the first two groups were asked about the technique used to reduce children's anxiety or to hold it on a low level. The questionnaires were analysed under the following aspects: 1) Are there systematic differences between the three groups concerning the estimation of infantile fear-intensity?--2) Is it possible to express the described behaviour doctors regard as effective for anxiety-reduction in terms of learning theory or behaviour-therapy respectively?--3) Is there a statistical interaction between the estimation of fear-intensity and ways of approaching?--Concerning the estimation of children's fear-intensity the three groups turned out to be highly concordant.

In this vitreo-retinal disease process, which is ophthalmoscopically so characteristic and in the early phase so surprisingly symptom-free, and which only occurs in this form and to this extent following spontaneous intravitreal fibroplasia, we can discern 3 distinct stages, although transitional phases also occur. Vitreal and retinal changes occur which are developed to a varying extent in the 3 stages.

In the latter there are no changes in the vitamin A test. On the contrary patients with diseases of the liver and biliary system show differences in the serum vitamin A levels.

The investigation includes 39 patients with different stages of pancreatic insufficiency and 10 patients with sprue. First it results relatively wide spread normal values in a control collective with sometimes unexplained low values, the significance of the vitamin A absorption test as screening test therefore is limited.

These manipulations revealed that, although many kangaroo rats are established residents in an area, a large number are transient individuals who quickly occupy vacated habitats. On plots from which residents had been removed, transients settled at rates of up to 5% of carrying capacity per day.
