MYT1L syndrome is a newly recognized disorder characterized by intellectual disability, speech and motor delay, neuroendocrine disruptions, ADHD, and autism. In order to study this gene and its association with these phenotypes, our lab recently created a heterozygous mutant mouse inspired by a clinically relevant mutation. This model recapitulates several of the physical and neurologic abnormalities seen in humans with MYT1L syndrome, such as weight gain, microcephaly, and behavioral disruptions.

Methods: Cross-sectional study was carried out in university hospital in the inpatient, emergency, intensive care and surgical center sectors. Microorganisms were recovered from the blades using a filter membrane and from the handles using swab.
Epidemic infections and spreading antibiotic resistance require diagnostic tests that can be rapidly adopted. To reduce the usually time-consuming adaptation of molecular diagnostic tests to changing targets, we propose the novel approach of a repurposable sensing electrode functionalization with a universal, target-independent oligonucleotide probe. In the liquid phase covering the electrode, the target sequence is amplified by MD LAMP (mediator-displacement loop-mediated isothermal amplification) releasing a generic methylene blue-labeled mediator, which specifically hybridizes to the solid-phase probe.

Natural products (NPs) from organisms in extreme environments are a promising source for novel drugs. CBMAI 1855 exhibited significant potential in this regard.

Methods: This was a secondary analysis of a prospective cohort study of patients undergoing invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) for more than 48 h. Patients were divided into two groups: those intubated for COVID-19-induced ARDS and those intubated for other clinical reasons.
Bone pathologies such as osteoporosis and metastasis can significantly compromise the load-bearing capacity of the spinal column, increasing the risk of vertebral fractures, some of which may occur during routine physical activities. Currently, there is no clinical tool that accurately assesses the risk of vertebral fractures associated with these activities in osteoporotic and metastatic spines. In this paper, we develop and validate a quantitative computed tomography-based finite element analysis (QCT/FEA) method to predict vertebral fractures under general load conditions that simulate flexion, extension, and side-bending movements, reflecting the body's activities under various scenarios.

Initial studies in adults suggest that the interpersonal difficulties common in BPD may emerge from disrupted processing of social and emotional stimuli. Less is known about these processes in adolescents with BPD symptoms, despite substantial changes in socioemotional processing during this developmental period.

This study looked to identify specific postoperative complications in these patients following unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA).
Methods: Adult patients undergoing primary UKA were queried in the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program database from 2006-2019.
Objective: This systematic review evaluates the efficacy and morbidity of transnasal endoscopic nasopharyngectomy as a salvage treatment for advanced-stage recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (rNPC).
Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, we conducted a systematic search in Medline, Scopus, and PubMed, identifying studies on transnasal endoscopic nasopharyngectomy for rNPC. Inclusion criteria encompassed histologically confirmed rT3 and rT4 NPC patients previously treated with radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy.
Objective: The oculomotor cistern (OMC) is a meningeal cuff filled with CSF that contains the oculomotor nerve (cranial nerve [CN] III) at the level of the lateral wall of the cavernous sinus. Only a few studies have investigated the involvement of the OMC by pituitary adenomas (pituitary neuroendocrine tumors [PitNETs]), mainly with relatively small case series. The aim of this study was to perform a histomorphological description of the OMC and systematically analyze its involvement by PitNETs from radiological, clinical, and surgical perspectives.

Background: It is imperative to determine patients' risk factors prior to arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR), so that the physician and patient are both aware of the possible postoperative complications. However, the impact of bleeding disorders on a patient's short-term postoperative outcome has not yet been analyzed.
Methods: A national database was queried for patients undergoing ARCR from 2006 to 2018.

Background: In response to a 1995 outbreak of sepsis caused by multidrug-resistant (MR) Gram-negative bacteria (GNB), a Brazilian level III neonatal unit established a series of control and prevention measures. This study evaluated the long-term effects of these measures on late-onset neonatal sepsis (LONS) caused by MR bacteria from 2000 to 2020 and examined their impact on in-hospital mortality.
Methods: Newborns with LONS and positive cultures for Staphylococcus aureus, GNB, and Enterococcus sp were selected, adhering to Center for Desease Control and Prevention and local criteria.
Introduction: Recent evidence supports the efficacy of surgical navigation (SN) in improving outcomes of sinonasal and craniofacial oncologic surgery. This study aims to demonstrate the utility of SN as a tool for integrating surgical, radiologic, and pathologic information. Additionally, a system for recording and mapping biopsy samples has been devised to facilitate sharing of spatial information.

Several compounds of plant origin have attracted increasing attention from researchers in recent years. The objective of this study was to evaluate the cytocompatibility and antimicrobial activity of calcium hydroxide associated with the essential oil of and the new bioceramic intracanal medicament Bio-C Temp.

This pilot study aimed to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based image analysis system capable of segmenting nasal polyps from nasal endoscopy videos.
Methods: Recorded nasal videoendoscopies from 52 patients diagnosed with CRSwNP between 2019 and 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.
Gelatin, a versatile protein derived from collagen, is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and medical sectors. However, bacterial contamination by spore-forming bacteria during gelatin processing represents a significant concern for product safety and quality. In this study, an investigation was carried out to explore the heat and chemical resistance, as well as the identification and characterization of spore-forming bacteria isolated from gelatin processing.
