Background And Objective: Psilocybin is currently being extensively studied as a potential therapeutic agent for multiple psychiatric disorders. Here, a systematic literature review of all published pharmacokinetic data on the pharmacologically active metabolite of psilocybin, psilocin, is presented.
Methods: The review includes clinical studies that reported pharmacokinetic data and/or parameters after psilocybin administration in humans.
Background/objective: A systematic review was conducted on the association between ethnicity and health-related quality of life in post-stroke populations.
Methods: In February 2024, a comprehensive search was conducted across several databases. Studies were included when they had at least 2 distinct ethnic post-stroke groups for comparison, along with the utilization of validated questionnaires to measure health-related quality of life.
Background: Surgical site infections (SSIs) lead to increased mortality and morbidity, as well as increased healthcare costs. Multiple models for the prediction of this serious surgical complication have been developed, with an increasing use of machine learning (ML) tools.
Objective: The aim of this systematic review was to assess the performance as well as the methodological quality of validated ML models for the prediction of SSIs.
Background: Since 2015 multiple combination treatments became available for metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) without effectiveness cross-comparison. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) could aid in decision-making.
Methods: We systematically reviewed HRQoL publications (January 2015-September 2024) of phase III randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in mHSPC using PRISMA guidelines, cross-compared HRQoL results and assessed usefulness to support decision-making (PROSPERO: CRD42023470698).
Introduction: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) has a remarkably variable disease course, even in monogenetic hereditary forms. Our aim was to investigate the prevalence of vascular risk factors and their effect on disease onset and course in Dutch-type hereditary (D-)CAA and sporadic CAA.
Methods: We performed a cohort study in D-CAA to investigate the association between vascular risk factors (hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, smoking, and alcohol use) and age of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) onset and time of ICH recurrence with survival analyses.
Background: Postoperative infections remain a crucial challenge in health care, resulting in high morbidity, mortality, and costs. Accurate identification and labeling of patients with postoperative bacterial infections is crucial for developing prediction models, validating biomarkers, and implementing surveillance systems in clinical practice.
Objective: This scoping review aimed to explore methods for identifying patients with postoperative infections using electronic health record (EHR) data to go beyond the reference standard of manual chart review.
Background And Objectives: Although physical therapy, in particular exercise therapy, is widely used in nursing home residents with dementia, the literature on this topic is relatively scarce. This systematic review aimed to summarize the literature on the characteristics and effectiveness of exercise interventions supervised by physical therapists in nursing home residents with dementia.
Research Design And Methods: Six electronic databases were systematically searched for relevant studies up to August 17, 2022.
Objective: Prolonged labor is the commonest indication for intrapartum cesarean section, but definitions are inconsistent and some common definitions were recently found to overestimate the speed of physiological labor. The objective of this review is to establish an overview of synonyms and definitions used in the literature for prolonged labor, separated into first and second stages, and establish types of definitions used.
Data Sources: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Emcare, and Academic Search Premier.
Introduction: People with dementia and their family carers may benefit from non-pharmacological interventions, including mind-body (MB-) practices, which can improve physical and mental health by inducing relaxation. This systematic review provides an overview of availability and effects of MB-practices.
Content: The authors performed a systematic search in PubMed, Embase, Emcare, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Academic Search Premier on February 1, 2024.
Purpose: Climate change, biodiversity loss, and other ecological crises threaten human health globally. The interrelation between human health and ecosystems is addressed in the emerging field of planetary health. Ecological crises have created an urgency to integrate planetary health, including sustainable health care, into medical education.

Understanding why interventions are (in)effective among people with lower socio-economic position (SEP) is essential. Therefore, this scoping review aims to describe what is reported about the behavior change techniques (BCTs) applied within interventions and their effectiveness in encouraging physical activity and healthy eating, and reducing smoking and alcohol consumption according to SEP.

Methods: A systematic literature review was performed in multiple databases including PubMed/Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science, COCHRANE and PsycINFO, from inception to 23 October 2020. Eligible studies included primary articles and guideline documents available in English, describing the: (1) development; (2) application of validated tools (eg, checklists); (3) guidance on assessing methodological quality of qualitative research and (4) guidance on grading levels of qualitative evidence.
Background: Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPI) are frequently prescribed. Long-term use is associated with side-effects and patients often lack a valid indication. Inappropriate PPI prescribing thus needs to be addressed.

Purpose: To provide an organized, international, state-of-the-art, and multidisciplinary guideline, led by experts of two nuclear medicine societies (EANM and SNMMI) and representation of important societies in the field of BC (ACR, ESSO, ESTRO, EUSOBI/ESR, and EUSOMA).
Background: Discomfort and distressing symptoms are common at the end of life, while people in this stage are often no longer able to express themselves. Technologies may aid clinicians in detecting and treating these symptoms to improve end-of-life care. This review provides an overview of noninvasive monitoring technologies that may be applied to persons with limited communication at the end of life to identify discomfort.

A total of 23 prospective studies comprising 11,486 participants were included for analysis. Extracted data was pooled, reviewed and meta-analysed separately for global cognition, executive function, memory and attention.

This review focuses on contact dermatitis. We searched MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Emcare, Epistemonikos, PsycINFO and Academic Search Premier for CPGs published between 1 November 2018 and 1 November 2023.

Although the stellate ganglion is considered the main contributor to cardiac sympathetic innervation, the superior cervical ganglia (SCG) is used in many experimental studies. The clinical relevance of the SCG to cardiac innervation is controversial.

Preemptive diagnostics of asymptomatic loosening could open strategies to prevent gross loosening. A multitude of biomarkers may discriminate between loosened and stable implants, but it is unknown which have the best performance.

Methods: A systematic search of multiple databases according to the PICO framework was performed from inception to April 3, 2023. Three researchers independently screened abstracts/titles and reviewed full texts reviewed.
The aim of this systematic review was to collect evidence on the following 10 technical aspects of glenoid baseplate fixation in reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA): screw insertion angles; screw orientation; screw quantity; screw length; screw type; baseplate tilt; baseplate position; baseplate version and rotation; baseplate design; and anatomical safe zones. Five literature libraries were searched for eligible clinical, cadaver, biomechanical, virtual planning, and finite element analysis studies. Studies including patients >16 years old in which at least one of the ten abovementioned technical aspects was assessed were suitable for analysis.
