Belief processing and self-referential processing have been consistently associated with cortical midline structures, and cortical regions such as the vmPFC have been implicated in general belief processing. The neural correlates of self-referential belief are yet to be investigated. In this fMRI study, we presented 120 statements with trait adjectives to N = 27 healthy participants, who subsequently judged whether they believed these trait adjectives applied to themselves, a close person, or a public person.

Methods: The Gutenberg Health Study is a prospective, observational, single-center cohort study. The sample was equally stratified for sex, residence, and age decade.

[Is the number of psychotherapy sessions for patients with depression associated with the severity of the disease?].

Objective: This study investigated how the number of sessions for outpatient psychodynamic psychotherapy among patients with depressive disorders is associated with the severity of the disease.

Methods: From a random sample of 1000 applications for reimbursement of outpatient psychodynamic psychotherapy, we selected those in which a diagnosis of depression with a severity rating (ICD-10 F32 or F33) was coded. The association of levels of depression severity (mild, moderate, and severe) with the number of sessions requested and the number of sessions endorsed by the reviewer was investigated using Spearman's rank correlation.

Cardiovascular adverse effects of lopinavir/ritonavir and hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 patients: Cases from a single pharmacovigilance centre.

In this article we summarize the cardiovascular adverse events that were observed in three patients during their treatment for COVID-19 and discuss their association with lopinavir/ ritonavir (LPV/r) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). The cases were reported to our regional pharmacovigilance centre in April 2020. All three patients were above 75 years in age, male and multimorbid, and had been hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19.

Strain 68-1 rhesus cytomegalovirus (RhCMV) vectors expressing simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) antigens elicit CD8 T cells recognizing epitopes presented by major histocompatibility complex II (MHC-II) and MHC-E but not MHC-Ia. These immune responses mediate replication arrest of SIV in 50 to 60% of monkeys. We show that the peptide VMAPRTLLL (VL9) embedded within the RhCMV protein Rh67 promotes intracellular MHC-E transport and recognition of RhCMV-infected fibroblasts by MHC-E-restricted CD8 T cells.

Cognitive profiles in persons with depressive disorder and Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer's disease and depressive disorder are frequent in old age. Both may be associated with depressed mood and cognitive impairment. Therefore, finding a strategy to clarify the diagnosis underlying subjective complaints of impaired cognition and depressed mood in older persons is of utmost interest.

Effects of Hypericum perforatum (St John's wort) on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of rivaroxaban in humans.

Aims: To investigate the influence of a cytochrome P450 CYP3A4 and efflux transporter P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inducing Hypericum perforatum extract on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of rivaroxaban.

Methods: Open-label, nonrandomized, sequential treatment interaction study. Following CYP3A4 and P-gp phenotyping using low-dose midazolam and fexofenadine, 12 healthy volunteers received a single oral dose of 20 mg rivaroxaban and rivaroxaban plasma concentrations and inhibition of the activated coagulation factor X (factor Xa) activity were measured prior to and up to 48 h postdosing.

MDMA-related presentations to the emergency departments of the European Drug Emergencies Network plus (Euro-DEN Plus) over the four-year period 2014-2017.

Context: 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) remains one of the most commonly used recreational drugs in Europe. Monitoring of Emergency Department (ED) presentations with acute toxicity associated with MDMA is important to determine trends in MDMA use and harms.

Methods: Data were extracted from the European Drug Emergencies Network (Euro-DEN) Plus database for all ED presentations with acute toxicity involving MDMA use, alone or in combination with other substances, between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2017.

On the conundrum of cognitive impairment due to depressive disorder in older patients.

Objectives: Depressive symptoms and cognitive impairment often concur in older persons. Differentiating the cause of cognitive impairment in older persons with Depressive Disorder (DD) from other diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is challenging. The goal of this study was to characterize cognitive impairment in older persons with DD.

Examination of vesicular stomatitis virus-induced morphology changes in individual Vero cells by QMod microscopy.

Viral infection of cultured cells induces changes in the biophysical characteristics of the affected cells. Advanced microscopic cameras such as Ovizio's QMod, coupled with the appropriate software, can measure a variety of characteristics on a per-cell basis. We have employed this system to monitor the progression of vesicular stomatitis virus infection in Vero cells and to describe the cellular changes associated with advancing vesicular stomatitis virus infection.

Emergency department presentations related to acute toxicity following recreational use of cannabis products in Switzerland.

Background: Concomitant use of cannabis and other psychoactive substances is common and it is often difficult to differentiate its acute effects from those of other substances. This study aimed to characterize the acute toxicity of cannabis with and without co-use of other substances.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of cases presenting at the emergency departments of three large hospitals in Switzerland due to acute toxicity related to cannabis recreational use.

T-cell prolymphocytic leukemia (T-PLL) is an aggressive tumor with leukemic presentation of mature T-lymphocytes. Here, we aimed at characterizing the initial events in the molecular pathogenesis of T-PLL and particularly, at determining the point in T-cell differentiation when the hallmark oncogenic events, that is, inv(14)(q11q32)/t(14;14)(q11;q32) and t(X;14)(q28;q11) occur. To this end, we mined whole genome and transcriptome sequencing data of 17 and 11 T-PLL cases, respectively.

Emergency department presentations related to abuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs in Switzerland: time trends, sex and age distribution.

Aims Of The Study: To analyse emergency department (ED) presentations related to acute medical problems after recreational use of prescription/over-the-counter (OTC) drugs in two major Swiss hospitals in order to identify the prevalence of specific drugs, vulnerable groups, time trends and local differences which could have major public health implications.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of cases presenting with signs/symptoms consistent with acute toxicity due to recreational use of prescription/OTC drugs from May 2012 to August 2017 at the ED of the University Hospital of Bern and from October 2013 to July 2017 at the ED of the University Hospital Basel. We investigated time trends, sex differences, patient characteristics and consumption patterns within three age groups (≥16 to <36 years; ≥36 to <56 years; ≥56 years).

The development of a sterilizing vaccine against malaria remains one of the highest priorities for global health research. While sporozoite vaccines targeting the pre-erythrocytic stage show great promise, it has not been possible to maintain efficacy long-term, likely due to an inability of these vaccines to maintain effector memory T cell responses in the liver. Vaccines based on human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) might overcome this limitation since vectors based on rhesus CMV (RhCMV), the homologous virus in rhesus macaques (RM), elicit and indefinitely maintain high frequency, non-exhausted effector memory T cells in extralymphoid tissues, including the liver.

OTP: An automatized system for managing and processing NGS data.

The One Touch Pipeline (OTP) is an automation platform managing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data and calling bioinformatic pipelines for processing these data. OTP handles the complete digital process from import of raw sequence data via alignment of sequencing reads to identify genomic events in an automated and scalable way. Three major goals are pursued: firstly, reduction of human resources required for data management by introducing automated processes.
