Objective: Azacitidine (Vidaza ) is the standard treatment for patients with higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) not eligible for allogeneic stem cell transplantation. In the noninterventional study PIAZA, we evaluated the effectiveness and safety of azacitidine treatment in 149 patients with higher-risk MDS, chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in routine clinical practice.
Method: Patients were treated according to physician's discretion.
A series of isostructural dinuclear 3d-4f complexes, isolated as [CuLn(L·SMe)(OOCMe)(NO)]· xMeOH (Ln = Gd 1, Tb 2, Dy 3, and Y 4; x = 0.75-1) and comprising one acetate and two thioether-Schiff base (L·SMe) bridging ligands based on 4-(methylthio)aniline and 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (HL·SMe = CHNOS), was synthesized and fully characterized. The magnetic properties of the charge-neutral {CuLn} complexes are dominated by ferromagnetic Cu-Ln exchange interactions.

SCCHN patient-derived tumor xenografts models were selected based on their cetuximab sensitivity. Three models were resistant to cetuximab and two were sensitive (one was highly sensitive and the other one was moderately sensitive).

However, little is known about the effect of acute mood states on vascular function. Here we examine the relation between vascular function and mood state in individuals with bipolar disorder.

Head-to-head evidence is limited in many disease areas, regularly resulting in disconnected evidence structures where a large number of treatments are available. This is also the case in the evidence of treatments for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.

We describe an effective alternative to standard endotracheal intubation using a Rüsch flexible intubation guide catheter.
Methods: In two patients undergoing tracheal repair surgery, we failed to insert a 5.
Aims: Indicators of process quality were developed for outpatient oncology care in Germany with the aim to advance quality monitoring and assurance. In this pilot study, data to assess these quality indicators (QI) were gathered and analyzed for the first time.
Methods: Data were retrieved from patient records in oncology practices using an online data tool.
Background: Targeted therapies specifically act by blocking the activity of proteins that are encoded by genes critical for tumorigenesis. However, most cancers acquire resistance and long-term disease remission is rarely observed. Understanding the time course of molecular changes responsible for the development of acquired resistance could enable optimization of patients' treatment options.

To improve current generation in BES, understanding the underlying microbiology of the electrode community is essential. Electron mediator producing microorganism like Pseudomonas aeruginosa play an essential role in efficient electricity generation in BES.

Background: Li-Fraumeni syndrome (LFS) is a cancer predisposition disorder characterized by germline mutations of the p53 tumor-suppressor gene. In response to DNA damage, p53 stimulates protective cellular processes including cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis to prevent aberrant cell proliferation. Current cancer therapies involve agents that damage DNA, which also affect non-cancerous hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells.

This study evaluated attitudes and recommendations of the DEMPS program to understand the impact of multi-modal training on volunteer perceptions.
Methods: DEMPS volunteers completed an electronic survey in 2012 (n=2120).
Modeling methane production is a key issue for solid waste co-digestion. Here, the effect of a step-wise increase in the organic loading rate (OLR) on reactor performance was investigated, and four new models were evaluated to predict methane yields using data acquired in batch mode. Four co-digestion experiments of mixtures of 2 solid substrates were conducted in semi-continuous mode.

Alternatively, [M(dppX)Cl(R)] complexes with dppX = dppm (1,1-bis(diphenylphosphano)methane), dppe, dppp (1,3-bis(diphenylphosphano)propane), and dppb (1,4-bis(diphenylphosphano)butane) were prepared in decarboxylation reactions from thallium(i) carboxylates Tl(OCR). The different preparative methods were compared in terms of yield and purity.

The medications used to treat these conditions may further adversely affect cardiovascular risk and exacerbate health disparities for vulnerable populations. There is a clinical need to appreciate the cardiometabolic adverse effects of psychotropic medications.

This study aimed to assess endothelial function and wave reflection, a risk factor for CVD, as measured by finger plethysmography in bipolar disorder to investigate whether CVD risk was higher in bipolar disorder and altered during acute mood episodes. We hypothesized that EndoPAT would detect a lower reactive hyperemia index (RHI) and higher augmentation index (AIX) in individuals with bipolar disorder compared with controls.

A measurement of the mass of the boson is presented based on proton-proton collision data recorded in 2011 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, and corresponding to of integrated luminosity. The selected data sample consists of candidates in the channel and candidates in the channel. The -boson mass is obtained from template fits to the reconstructed distributions of the charged lepton transverse momentum and of the boson transverse mass in the electron and muon decay channels, yielding where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second corresponds to the experimental systematic uncertainty, and the third to the physics-modelling systematic uncertainty.
