Objectives: This study aimed to investigate patients' use of electronic Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (ePROMs) and understand the demographic and clinical factors that may be correlated with patient responses to the BREAST-Q at the preoperative stage of breast cancer. The BREAST-Q is a PROM in questionnaire format, developed and validated to assess satisfaction and quality of life for breast surgery patients.The hypothesis tested is that considering disparities in geography, age and education among responders is essential for capturing a diverse patient population in future Patent-Reported Outcome Measures initiatives, examining how these characteristics are associated with Patent-Reported Outcome Measures utilisation and outcomes.

Predicting liver ablation volumes with real-time MRI thermometry.

Background & Aims: MRI guidance offers better lesion targeting for microwave ablation of liver lesions with higher soft-tissue contrast, as well as the possibility of real-time thermometry. This study aims to evaluate the correlation of real-time MR thermometry-predicted lesion volume with the ablation zone in postprocedural first-day images.

Methods: This single-center retrospective analysis evaluated prospectively included patients who underwent MRI-guided microwave ablation with real-time thermometry between December 2020 and July 2023.

Alzheimer's Disease Risk Gene SORL1 Promotes Receptiveness of Human Microglia to Pro-Inflammatory Stimuli.

Sorting protein-related receptor containing class A repeats (SORLA) is an intracellular trafficking receptor encoded by the Alzheimer's disease (AD) gene SORL1 (sortilin-related receptor 1). Recent findings argue that altered expression in microglia may underlie the genome-wide risk of AD seen with some SORL1 gene variants, however, the functional significance of the receptor in microglia remains poorly explained. Using unbiased omics and targeted functional analyses in iPSC-based human microglia, we identified a crucial role for SORLA in sensitizing microglia to pro-inflammatory stimuli.

Polymer-based batteries represent a promising candidate for next-generation batteries due to their high power densities, decent cyclability, and environmentally friendly synthesis. However, their performance essentially depends on the complex multiscale morphology of their electrodes, which can significantly affect the transport of ions and electrons within the electrode structure. In this paper, we present a comprehensive investigation of the complex relationship between the three-dimensional (3D) morphology of polymer-based battery electrodes and their effective transport properties.

The performance of a point-of-care test for the diagnosis of Neurocysticercosis in a resource-poor community setting in Zambia - a diagnostic accuracy study.

Background: Neurocysticercosis (NCC) is the main cause of epilepsy in endemic rural communities. NCC diagnosis is difficult due to unavailability and unaffordability of serologic assays and neuroimaging. This study aimed to assess the performance of a cheap, novel lateral-flow point-of-care (TS POC) test for the diagnosis of NCC in a community setting.

Autodetachment of Diatomic Carbon Anions from Long-Lived High-Rotation Quartet States.

We show that strong molecular rotation drastically modifies the autodetachment of C_{2}^{-} ions in the lowest quartet electronic state a^{4}Σ_{u}^{+}. In the strong-rotation regime, levels of this state only decay by a process termed "rotationally assisted" autodetachment, whose theoretical description is worked out based on the nonlocal resonance model. For autodetachment linked with the exchange of six rotational quanta, the results reproduce a prominent, hitherto unexplained electron emission signal with a mean decay time near 3 ms, observed on stored C_{2}^{-} ions from a hot ion source.

Background: Usutu virus (USUV) and West Nile virus (WNV) are zoonotic arthropod-borne orthoflaviviruses. The enzootic transmission cycles of both include mosquitoes as vectors and birds as amplifying hosts. Methods: A qualitative approach was employed, using focused ethnography with participant observations during patient consultations at a Plastic and Breast Surgery outpatient clinic, followed by individual interviews with the patients. Data were analysed using reflexive thematic analysis by Braun and Clarke.
