Understanding root system architecture (RSA) is essential for improving crop resilience to climate change, yet assessing root systems of woody perennials under field conditions remains a challenge. This study introduces a pipeline that combines field excavation, in situ 3-dimensional digitization, and transformation of RSA data into an interoperable format to analyze and model the growth and water uptake of grapevine rootstock genotypes. Eight root systems of each of 3 grapevine rootstock genotypes ("101-14", "SO4", and "Richter 110") were excavated and digitized 3 and 6 months after planting.

We have developed a method to extract density fluctuation measurements from x-ray radiographs of high-energy density (HED) instability growth and turbulence experiments. We use this information to calculate density fluctuation statistics for constraining the performance of turbulent mix models in HED systems. The density calculation combines image filtering, removal of systemic effects such as backlighter variation, calculation of transmission across multiple materials, and use of tracer materials to generate an approximate single-material density field.

We present a method of creating high-density superconducting flexible wiring on flexible thin silicon substrates. The flexible wiring, called , is created by depositing superconducting wiring on a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer, selectively etching away the thicker silicon section layer, and bending the thinner silicon layer. We show measurements of superconducting transition temperature and critical current for Mo, Nb, and Al on SOI flex.

Considering the environmental impact and health risks caused by oily wastewater in the petrochemical industry, it is crucial to develop more efficient separation techniques than traditional methods, such as membrane separation, for treating stable emulsions enriched with natural surfactants. This study investigated the preparation of dense cellulose acetate membranes from a low-cost biomass precursor () and their modification with graphene oxide (GO) and TiO nanoparticles, aiming to obtain a polymeric nanocomposite with good flux characteristics and selectivity for the treatment of oil/water emulsions.
