Inhibition of α4β1 Integrin Activity by Small Tellurium Compounds Regulates PD-L1 Expression and Enhances Antitumor Effects.

Various cancer treatment approaches that inhibit the activity of the programmed death-1/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) axis, a key player in tumor immune evasion, have been developed. We show that the immunomodulatory small tellurium complexes AS101 (ammonium trichloro(dioxoethylene-o,o')tellurate) and SAS (octa-O-bis(R,R)-tartarate ditellurane) suppress PD-L1 expression in a variety of human and mouse malignant cells via the modulation of α4β1 very late antigen- (VLA-4) integrin activity. Consequently, the expression of pAkt and its downstream effector pNFκB are inhibited.

Electrical and Optical Properties of γ-SnSe: A New Ultra-narrow Band Gap Material.

We describe the unusual properties of γ-SnSe, a new orthorhombic binary phase in the tin monoselenide system. This phase exhibits an ultranarrow band gap under standard pressure and temperature conditions, leading to high conductivity under ambient conditions. Density functional calculations identified the similarity and difference between the new γ-SnSe phase and the conventional α-SnSe based on the electron localization function.

Objectives: To evaluate the influence of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on the adherence of patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRD) to their immunomodulatory medication during the three-month lockdown in Germany.

Methods: From 16th March until 15th June 2020, IRD patients from private practices and rheumatology departments were asked to answer a questionnaire addressing their behaviour with respect to their immunomodulating therapy. Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic brought many challenges to patient care delivery. The need for social distancing and relaxing of federal and state telemental health regulations paved the way for widespread adoption of direct-to-consumer (DTC) ambulatory mental health video visits.

Methods: We present cases that demonstrate the use of video visits across 6 clinical areas, each serving a unique population of patients, in a large behavioral health system.

Creative collaborative approaches are required to meet the demands of managing depression in youth. Primary care providers are well positioned to engage depressed youth and their families, yet often lack the training, access to psychiatric providers, and the reimbursement structure to support their efforts. Child and adolescent psychiatrists are encouraged to support pediatricians in establishing more robust systems to provide screening and effective treatment interventions, particularly for youth at higher risk.

An Infected Urachal Cyst in a 4-Year-Old Girl Presenting with Recurrent Abdominal Pain.

Background: Urachal cysts are remnants of urachal ducts and usually present when they get infected or undergo malignant transformation.

Case Report: A 4-year-old girl presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with intermittent abdominal pain, fever, dysuria, and umbilical swelling. She was diagnosed with an abscess related to an infected urachal cyst by ultrasound.

Bi-allelic Variants in TONSL Cause SPONASTRIME Dysplasia and a Spectrum of Skeletal Dysplasia Phenotypes.

SPONASTRIME dysplasia is an autosomal-recessive spondyloepimetaphyseal dysplasia characterized by spine (spondylar) abnormalities, midface hypoplasia with a depressed nasal bridge, metaphyseal striations, and disproportionate short stature. Scoliosis, coxa vara, childhood cataracts, short dental roots, and hypogammaglobulinemia have also been reported in this disorder. Although an autosomal-recessive inheritance pattern has been hypothesized, pathogenic variants in a specific gene have not been discovered in individuals with SPONASTRIME dysplasia.

Integrated health care models attempt to cross the barrier between behavioral and medical worlds in order to improve access to quality care that meets the needs of the whole patient. Unfortunately, the integration of behavioral health and physical health providers in one space is not enough to actually promote integration. There are many models for promoting integration and collaboration within the primary care context.

Behavioral Health Integration in Large Multi-group Pediatric Practice.

There is increasing interest in methods to improve access to behavioral health services for children and adolescents. Children's Community Pediatric Behavioral Health Service (CCPBHS) is an integrated behavioral health service whose method of (a) creating a leadership team with empowered administrative and clinical stakeholders who can act on a commitment to change and (b) having a clear mission statement with integrated administrative and clinical care processes can serve as a model for implementing integration efforts within the medical home. Community Pediatrics Behavioral Health Service (CPBHS) is a sustainable initiative that improved the utilization of physical health and behavioral health systems for youth and improved the utilization of evidence-based interventions for youth served in primary care.

Corner fracture type spondylometaphyseal dysplasia: Overlap with type II collagenopathies.

Spondylometaphyseal dysplasia (SMD) corner fracture type (also known as SMD "Sutcliffe" type, MIM 184255) is a rare skeletal dysplasia that presents with mild to moderate short stature, developmental coxa vara, mild platyspondyly, corner fracture-like lesions, and metaphyseal abnormalities with sparing of the epiphyses. The molecular basis for this disorder has yet to be clarified. We describe two patients with SMD corner fracture type and heterozygous pathogenic variants in COL2A1.

Novel EED mutation in patient with Weaver syndrome.

Weaver syndrome is a rare condition characterized by overgrowth, macrocephaly, accelerated osseous maturation, variable intellectual disability, and characteristic facial features. Pathogenic variants in EZH2, a histone methyltransferase, have previously been identified as a cause of Weaver syndrome. However, the underlying molecular cause in many patients remains unknown.
