Amyloidosis is a group of proteinopathies characterized by the systemic or organ-specific deposition of proteins in the form of amyloid fibers. Nearly 40 proteins play a role in these pathologies, and the structures of the associated fibers are beginning to be determined by Cryo-EM. However, the molecular events underlying the process, such as fiber nucleation and elongation, are poorly understood, which impairs developing efficient therapies.

However, for ticagrelor, the impact of serial PRU testing and the identification of safe PRU ranges remains unexplored.
Methods: Flow diversion stenting ( = 232) and stent-assisted coiling procedures ( = 83) performed 05/2017-12/2021 were reviewed.
Background: Subacute and chronic subdural hematomas are common and frequently recur after surgical evacuation. The effect of adjunctive middle meningeal artery embolization on the risk of reoperation remains unclear.
Methods: In a prospective, multicenter, interventional, adaptive-design trial, we randomly assigned patients with symptomatic subacute or chronic subdural hematoma with an indication for surgical evacuation to undergo middle meningeal artery embolization plus surgery (treatment group) or surgery alone (control group).
Background: The EXCELLENT registry aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the EMBOTRAP Revascularization Device in an all-comer population in a real-world setting, with a focus on the composition of retrieved clots.
Methods: EXCELLENT is a prospective, global registry of patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with EMBOTRAP as the first-line mechanical thrombectomy device conducted at 34 sites (25 sites contributing clot) from September 2018 to March 2021, utilizing core imaging and central histology laboratories blinded to clinical data, independent 90-day modified Rankin Scale assessment and Clinical Events Committee.
Results: After screening 3799 patients, a total of 997 subjects (mean age, 70.
Introduction: Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with alteplase (TPA) in hyperglycemic stroke patients is associated with an increased risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and poor functional outcomes. We aimed to explore the association between admission hyperglycemia and sICH in large vessel occlusion stroke (LVOS) patients treated with TNK versus TPA before endovascular thrombectomy (EVT).
Methods: We reviewed consecutive LVOS patients treated with TPA or TNK before EVT from 01/2020 to 06/2023.
Background: Temporary clipping (TC) is an essential adjunct in cerebral aneurysm (CA) surgery. Despite appearing insignificant to the surgeon under the microscope, TC may cause parent vessel injury. Intraoperative diagnostic cerebral angiography (ioDCA) is crucial for assessing aneurysm occlusion and parent vessel integrity.

This was achieved by means of an environmentally friendly synthesis, taking place at a low temperature and without the involvement of toxic reagents. The product was physicochemically characterized.

Neuropsychiatric symptomatology in LD is thought to be directly downstream of neuronal and astrocytic polyglucosan aggregates, termed Lafora bodies (LBs), which faithfully accumulate in an age-dependent manner in all mouse models of LD. In this study, we applied home-cage monitoring to examine the extent of neurobehavioral deterioration in a model of malin-deficient LD as a means to identify robust preclinical endpoints that may guide the selection of novel genetic treatments.

However, MCA anatomy is highly variable rendering classification for mechanical thrombectomy trials difficult. This study explored safety and effectiveness of M2 MCA stroke thrombectomy stratified by M2 MCA anatomy.

The objective of this subset analysis was to evaluate the prospective long-term clinical outcomes of AVF patients treated with the SMART COIL System.
Methods: Patients who had AVFs and underwent endovascular coiling using the Penumbra SMART COIL system were part of a subset analysis within the SMART registry.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been introduced in breast cancer (BC) treatment and better biomarkers are needed to predict benefit. Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are prognostic in BC, but knowledge is limited on CTCs in the context of ICI therapy. In this study, serial sampling of CTCs (CellSearch system) was evaluated in 82 patients with metastatic BC enrolled in two randomized trials investigating ICI plus chemotherapy.

The SOFAST study collected clinical evidence on the safety and efficacy of the 6 French SOFIA Flow Plus aspiration catheter (SOFIA 6F) when used as first-line treatment.
Methods: This was a prospective, multicenter investigation to assess the safety and efficacy of SOFIA 6F used for first-line aspiration.
Background: The combination of inadequate financial training, limited benchmarks, and mindset contribute to many physicians prioritizing revenue below quality, outcomes, and safety. This creates a challenge as hospital administrators aim to motivate clinicians to improve RVU generation and increase revenue.
Recent Findings: Creating physician/administrator teams that defines and explores the gap between observed and expected financial performance in parallel with appreciating the physician's practice preferences can create new opportunities for billing.
Background: Endovascular therapy (EVT) dramatically improves clinical outcomes for patients with anterior circulation emergent large vessel occlusion (ELVO) strokes. With recent publication of two randomized controlled trials in favor of EVT for basilar artery occlusions, the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery (SNIS) Standards and Guidelines Committee provides this focused update for the existing SNIS guideline, 'Current endovascular strategies for posterior circulation large vessel occlusion stroke.'
Methods: A structured literature review and analysis of studies related to posterior circulation large vessel occlusion (basilar or vertebral artery) strokes treated by EVT was performed.
While the double helical structure has long been its iconic representation, DNA is structurally dynamic and can adopt alternative secondary configurations. Specifically, guanine-rich DNA sequences can fold in guanine quadruplexes (G4) structures. These G4 play pivotal roles as regulators of gene expression and genomic stability, and influence protein homeostasis.
