We developed a flow cytometry (FC) assay enabling the rapid and accurate identification of bacterial and viral infections using whole blood samples. The streamlined flow cytometry assay is designed to be user-friendly, making it accessible even for operators with limited experience in FC techniques. The key components of the assay focus on the expression levels of specific surface markers-CD64 on polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) as a marker for bacterial infection, and CD169 on monocytes (MO) for viral infection.

We present the case of a 37-year-old male who underwent surgical resection of a 1.2 cm DFSP lesion on the left shoulder in May 2020.

Five months after surgery 68 Ga-DOTATOC PET/CT showed increased radiotracer uptake in a solid tissue of the splenic fossa, possibly referring to a splenosis nodule. After 19 months, a further 68 Ga-DOTATOC PET/CT showed a significant functional and dimensional increase of the previously detected tissue and the appearance of a new finding in the left lateral abdominal wall.

However, identifying prognostic biomarkers is paramount for optimizing patients' benefits while minimizing toxicity. Cytokines represent circulating mediators of the complex interaction between cancer, the immune system, and inflammation.

The impact of cutaneous adverse events (cAEs) on patients' quality of life (QoL) represents an unmet clinical need.
Objectives: The aims of this study were (1) to assess whether cutaneous toxicities directed therapies are effective in reducing the QoL burden via the submission of 2 patient reported outcome measures (PROMs); (2) to investigate whether class of oncologic therapy, type of cAE and toxicity severity differently impact on patients' QoL.
: Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) is a superficial soft tissue sarcoma, and surgical excision is the first-line treatment. The aim of this systematic review is to provide an update about the current indications and clinical results regarding the use of postoperative radiotherapy in DSFP, considering both adjuvant and salvage setting. : We conducted a systematic literature review using the main scientific database, including Cochrane library, Scopus, and PubMed, for any relevant article about the topic, and we considered all available papers without any time restriction.

Background: Pancreatic metastases from medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) are exceptional. Imaging and treatment based on somatostatin receptors may play a role, though the evidence is unconvincing.
Case Presentation: We have, herein, documented a unique case of metastatic MTC, where pancreatic metastasis was identified by 68Ga-PET/CT, with the disease showing very slow progression during treatment with lanreotide autogel.
Background: Periocular malignancies may be clinically different from the examples arising at other sites, with possible delayed diagnosis and greater challenges for treatment and repair. Line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) is a recently developed technique characterized by an unprecedented capacity to acquire high-definition images in vertical and horizontal modes. In this study, we aimed to investigate the LC-OCT morphological features of a series of eyelid skin lesions, correlating them to histopathological findings.

Target therapies have been developed to cure oncology patients refractory to traditional treatments, introducing the concept of precision medicine. Preliminary data on PitNETs are derived from preclinical studies conducted on cell cultures, animal models, and a few case reports or small case series.

This analysis of the INVIDIa-2 study on influenza vaccination in patients with cancer treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) assessed NLR and SII on overall survival (OS) by literature-reported (LR), receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC)-derived (ROC) cutoffs or as continuous variable (CV). NLR and SII with ROC cutoffs of <3.

The predictive role of the immune profile in immune-related toxicities (irAEs) development and tumour response to treatment was investigated.
Methods: A prospective, multicenter study evaluating, through a multiplex assay, the soluble immune profile at the baseline of 53 patients with advanced cancer, treated with immunotherapy as single agent was performed.
Background/objectives: Insulinomas are rare, functioning pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNEN), whose gold standard therapy is surgical resection. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) is a recent technique that has emerged as a minimally invasive therapeutic option for patients with pancreatic lesions not eligible for surgery. In this study, we aimed to describe a series of patients with unresectable pancreatic insulinoma treated with EUS-RFA.

Even though lungs represent the most frequent site of melanoma metastases, only limited data are available on the role of surgery in isolated pulmonary metastases from malignant melanoma (PmMM) in the era of ESTs. The aim of this study is to describe the outcomes of patients who underwent metastasectomy of PmMM in the era of ESTs, in order to identify prognostic factors affecting survival and to provide a framework for more informed patient selection of treatmeant with lung surgery in the future.

Methods: Demographic and clinical features were retrospectively collected for all cases.
Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have particular, immune-related adverse events (irAEs), as a consequence of interfering with self-tolerance mechanisms. The incidence of irAEs varies depending on ICI class, administered dose and treatment schedule. The aim of this study was to define a baseline (T0) immune profile (IP) predictive of irAE development.

In oligoprogressive melanoma patients with mutations, target therapy can be combined with loco-regional radiotherapy (RT). However, the association of BRAF/MEK inhibitors and RT needs to be carefully monitored for potential increased toxicity.

However, few data are available regarding the application of this approach in Ocular Oncology. Hereby, the Authors analyze the implementation and outcomes of a trained MDTB in a tertiary ocular oncology referral center.

Methods: Patients with advanced solid tumors, who underwent ICI treatment were enrolled in this prospective study.
Aim of this study was to systematically review the literature to assess efficacy and safety of stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) in combination with immunotherapy for the treatment of melanoma brain metastases (MBM). The literature was searched using PubMed, Scopus, and Embase. Studies comparing SRT plus immunotherapy versus SRT or immunotherapy alone were deemed eligible for inclusion.
