Congenital dyserythropoietic anemia type I (CDA I) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder with ineffective erythropoiesis and iron overloading. More than 100 cases have been described, but with the exception of a report on a large Bedouin tribe, these reports include only small numbers of cases, and no data on the lifetime evolution of the disease are available. Since 1967, we have been able to follow 21 cases from 19 families for up to 37 years.

Patients And Methods: Selection criteria was as follows: stage pT1-3a, N+ or N-, M0, less than 72 years of age. Eligible patients were randomized to receive either CMF (cyclophosphamide 100 mg/m2 orally on days 1 to 14, methotrexate 40 mg/m2 intravenously (I.
The May-Hegglin anomaly is an extremely rare, autosomal dominant inherited disorder characterized by alterations in white cells and in blood platelets. The granulocytes show basophilic inclusion bodies of no clinical importance. Usually moderate thrombocytopenia with variable platelet size, including giant platelets, is also found.

Among the lymphomas of the small and large bowel there was an increased percentage of tumors of lympho-plasmocytoid type. The course of gastric lymphomas is less favourable than that of intestinal lymphomas.

Human alveolar macrophages were collected by bronchopulmonary lavage and their proliferation activity and bacteriostatic capacity determined in vitro. Compared with blood monocytes the alveolar macrophages show a higher degree of differentiation with a very high bacteriostatic capacity and no proliferation acitivity. There were no major differences between alveolar macrophages from healthy individuals, heavy smokers and patients with bronchogenic cancer.
