Background: Adult- and adolescent-onset neuroblastomas are rare, with no established therapy. In addition, rare pheochromocytomas may harbor neuroblastic components. This study was designed to collect epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic data in order to better define the characteristics of malignant peripheral neuroblastic tumors (MPNT) and composite pheochromocytomas (CP) with MPNT.

Feticide is the practice of inducing fetal demise before the termination of pregnancy. In England and Wales, it is recommended for terminations of pregnancy beyond 21+6 weeks of gestation. This project analyses the trends in feticide in singleton pregnancy in England and Wales between 2012 and 2020.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on analyzing neuro-oncology care pathways for adolescents and young adults aged 13-29 at Grenoble Alpes University Hospital, following French health guidelines, and included patients diagnosed with primary brain tumors (excluding certain types) between 2013 and 2019.
  • - Out of 60 patients examined, it was found that not all key stages of care were completed, but those managed in a pediatric oncology department showed better collaboration and access to a dedicated AYA support team.
  • - The research emphasized the need for enhanced interdisciplinary cooperation between adult and pediatric services, recommending increased vigilance in key care steps to improve overall patient care for AYA populations and proposing an ideal neuro-oncology care pathway for this group.

Introduction: Between 5 and 15% of children with neuroblastoma (NB) present with or develop spinal canal invasion (SCI). The majority of these children have symptoms of epidural compression of spinal cord and/or spinal nerves. Treatment of NB-SCI is considered an emergency but its modalities are not yet well-established.

Article Synopsis
  • Pheochromocytoma/neuroblastoma composite tumors are rare and poorly understood, with limited information available about them.
  • The report highlights a unique case of a 39-year-old man who developed a composite tumor in his bones, seven years after having undergone surgery for adrenal neuroblastoma.
  • Diagnosing peripheral neuroblastic tumors in adults is challenging, especially for composite types, and there is no standard treatment approach, leading to complex discussions about the best management options.

Background: Limited research suggests that non-occupational health doctors rarely discuss occupation with their patients. There is a gap in research regarding the attitudes and practices of doctors towards discussing patient occupation and return to work. The aim of this work was to explore the attitudes of ophthalmology doctors towards work as a clinical outcome and assess the need for occupational health training among participants (doctors).

Introduction: Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant cerebral tumor during childhood, arising in the posterior fossa. Children treated for medulloblastoma often experience working memory (WM) deficits, affecting their quality of life and school performance. The aim of the present study undertaken to describe the cerebellar involvement in WM deficits observed in these children.

Purpose: To explain the controversy about whether midlife women who self-report hot flashes have relatively increased affective symptoms, poor cognitive performance or worse sleep.

Methods: Retrospective data from 88 women seeking relief from bothersome day and night hot flashes were submitted to mixed linear regression modeling to find if estimated hot flashes, as measured by Women's Health Questionnaire (WHQ) items, or diary-documented hot flashes recorded daily, were associated with each other, or with affective, cognitive or sleep measures.

Results: Subjects averaged 6.

Medulloblastomas are the most common malignant childhood brain tumors arising in the posterior fossa. Treatment improvements for these tumors have meant that there are a greater number of survivors, but this long-term patient survival has increased the awareness of resulting neurocognitive deficits. Impairments in attention, memory, executive functions, and intelligence quotient demonstrate that the cerebellum likely plays a significant role in numerous higher cognitive functions such as language, cognitive, and emotional functions.

There are many options available to address the quality of life and health concerns of menopausal women. The principal indication for hormone therapy (HT) is the treatment of vasomotor symptoms, and benefits generally outweigh risks for healthy women with bothersome symptoms who elect HT at the time of menopause. Although HT increases the risk of coronary heart disease, recent analyses confirm that this increased risk occurs principally in older women and those a number of years beyond menopause.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) State-of-the-Science (SoS) Conference on the Management of Menopause-Related Symptoms identified a number of important gaps in our understanding of the natural history of the menopausal transition and the etiology and course of menopause-related symptoms. Updated information is needed from prospective studies of reproductive aging in diverse populations of women, especially of younger women in their mid reproductive years, to better understand the underlying biology of ovarian aging as well as the etiology of conditions leading to premature spontaneous or surgical menopause. To facilitate this goal, a number of methodologic issues must be addressed, including the development of (1) consensus definitions of menopause-related terms and stages, and (2) standard measures and methods for assessing progression through the menopausal transition and related symptoms and outcomes.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the relationship of human semen parameters with season, age and smoking status. METHODS: The present study used data from subjects recruited into an ongoing cross-sectional study on the relationship between environmental agents and semen characteristics. Our population consisted of 306 patients who presented to the Vincent Memorial Andrology Laboratory of Massachusetts General Hospital for semen evaluation.

Objective: We aimed to find how self-reported sleep (measured by the St. Mary's Hospital Sleep Questionnaire) in postmenopausal women having hot flash activity was related to objective sleep (actigraphy), psychological and somatic symptoms [Women's Health Questionnaire (WHQ)], and cognitive test performance (computerized tests). A secondary aim was to find if self-reported sleep showed expected correlations with hyperarousal (Hyperarousal Scale).

The current study explores trends in semen parameters in New England in the United States. A retrospective review was performed of 551 semen analysis records from 1989 to 2000 at Vincent Memorial Andrology Laboratory of Massachusetts General Hospital. After age adjustment, semen pH and motility significantly increased 0.

Although semen quality has been discussed extensively with regard to age and season in the andrology literature, the results vary and firm conclusions are still outstanding. To investigate seasonal and age-related variations in human semen parameters, we analyzed data that were collected from an andrology clinic population. We performed a retrospective review of 551 semen analysis records collected from 1989 to 2000 from the Vincent Memorial Andrology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital.
