Background: Lectures remain a common instructional method in medical education. Instructor methods, curricular factors, and technology affect students' use of scheduled live lectures that may impact faculty job satisfaction.
Aim: This study identified instructor methods and curriculum issues that influenced preclinical medical students' use of scheduled lectures as well as faculty perceptions of lectures and students' attendance.
Aortoesophageal fistulas (AEFs) are rare and life-threatening conditions. Till date, an association between an AEF and sarcoidosis has not been reported yet. The aim of this report is to demonstrate a case of AEF secondary to sarcoidosis and its multistage interdisciplinary surgical therapy.

Background: Central venous catheters can help with diagnosis and treatment of the critically ill. The catheter may be placed in a large vein in the neck (internal jugular vein), upper chest (subclavian vein) or groin (femoral vein). Whilst this is beneficial overall, inserting the catheter risks arterial puncture and other complications and should be performed in as few attempts as possible.

The measured ground state vibrational intervals were assigned and fitted to anharmonicity expressions, which allowed the harmonic frequencies to be determined for both isotopomers. In some cases, lack of a suitable range of emission data necessitated that some of the anharmonicity constants and vibrational frequencies be estimated from those of HGeClDGeCl and the corresponding silylenes (HSiX).

Twenty-six ground state vibrational levels of HGeCl and 42 of DGeCl were measured, assigned, and fitted to standard anharmonicity expressions, which allowed all the harmonic frequencies to be determined for both isotopomers. A normal coordinate least squares analysis obtained by fitting the harmonic frequencies yielded reliable values for five of the six force constants.

These formulas then were compared with those recommended by the National Kidney Foundation for estimating GFR in children. For this, their ability to estimate accurately an individual's true GFR and chronic kidney disease stage, identify patients whose true GFR was <60 ml/min per 1.

Because S100B may be regarded as a marker for astrocytes, the objective of this study was to examine S100B serum concentrations in 30 patients with schizophrenia with a monoclonal two-site immunoluminometric assay that specifically detects S100B. An ANOVA revealed medication (p<0.

A "molecular surgery" approach has been used to create an opening within a fullerene cage that is large enough to allow atoms and small molecules to pass through. The thermodynamics for the insertion of He and H into the open fullerene (left and right pictures, respectively) as well as their escape have been studied by NMR spectroscopy and theoretical methods.

A large hole in a fullerene: The addition of dioxygen to the highly reactive 1,4-diaminobutadiene moiety of 1, formed from the reaction of C(60) with a rigid diazidobutadiene, results in the very efficient formation of an open fullerene (see the space-filling model) with the largest orifice created so far on a fullerene. The opening may be large enough to allow the smallest atoms, molecules, or ions to pass through.

Enthalpies for the photochemical transformations R hv----B and I hv----B are measured to be delta HRB = 32.2 +/- 0.
