In this article, several scholars of nationalism discuss the potential for the COVID-19 pandemic to impact the development of nationalism and world politics. To structure the discussion, the contributors respond to three questions: (1) how should we understand the relationship between nationalism and COVID-19; (2) will COVID-19 fuel ethnic and nationalist conflict; and (3) will COVID-19 reinforce or erode the nation-state in the long run? The contributors formulated their responses to these questions near to the outset of the pandemic, amid intense uncertainty. This made it acutely difficult, if not impossible, to make predictions.

Background: To identify practice patterns of Canadian glaucoma specialists in order to begin identifying the needs of the work force to care for the next generation of glaucoma patients.
Methods: Survey of 130 Canadian glaucoma specialists whose names were obtained from the Canadian Ophthalmological Society specialist list.
Results: The response rate was 62% (81/130); 77% (62/81) considered themselves glaucoma specialists, but only 77% (48/62) of these had at least 1 year of formal glaucoma training.
Background: To compare the safety and efficacy of silicone and polypropylene Ahmed glaucoma drainage devices.
Methods: We studied a retrospective consecutive case series of 91 eyes of 81 patients who were implanted with Ahmed valves by a single surgeon (R.M.
Open angle glaucoma (OAG) is a complex disorder with varying etiologies due to multiple genes and environmental effects. This genetic heterogeneity can confound efforts to map loci. Increased homogeneity in a sample can be achieved using either ordered subset analysis (OSA) which groups families, or individual OSA (IOSA), which groups individuals based on disease related covariates.

We are unaware of previous reports reviewing their management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the occurrence and management of encapsulated cyst formation following Ahmed glaucoma valve implant insertion.

In this study, we evaluated this unproven clinical perception.
Design: A retrospective, noncomparative, case series.
Purpose: To screen a population with primary open-angle glaucoma for mutations in the gene that encodes the trabecular meshwork inducible glucocorticoid response protein (TIGR), also known as myocilin (MYOC).
Methods: Ophthalmologic information was collected for study subjects with primary open-angle glaucoma and their relatives. Mutation screening of 74 primary open-angle glaucoma probands was conducted by sequencing TIGR/MYOC coding sequence and splice sites.
Purpose: To present 3 cases illustrating the outcomes of phacoemulsification corneal wound burns.
Setting: A university referral center.
Methods: This was a retrospective case series.
Objective: To identify coexisting ocular diagnoses in a case series of eyes that developed cystoid macular edema (CME) associated with latanoprost therapy.
Design: Retrospective observational case series.
Participants: Seven eyes of seven patients who developed CME possibly associated with latanoprost treatment were studied.

Pigmentary glaucoma results from zonular-pigment dispersion, primarily in young, myopic, white individuals. The concavity of the midperipheral iris allows iridozonular contact. Released pigment is carried to the trabecular meshwork where it resides: (1) benignly, not affecting the intraocular pressure, as in pigment dispersion syndrome; or (2) malignantly, elevating the intraocular pressure, as in pigmentary glaucoma.

Of 222 injuries reviewed, 77 (35%) resulted in some visual deficit. Males were significantly overrepresented in all age groups with an average male:female ratio of 3.
