Given the potential benefits of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) within healthcare, it is critical to consider how these technologies can be deployed in pediatric research and practice. Currently, healthcare AI/ML has not yet adapted to the specific technical considerations related to pediatric data nor adequately addressed the specific vulnerabilities of children and young people (CYP) in relation to AI. While the greatest burden of disease in CYP is firmly concentrated in lower and middle-income countries (LMICs), existing applied pediatric AI/ML efforts are concentrated in a small number of high-income countries (HICs).

According to the sepsis-3 definition, sepsis is characterized by dysregulation of the host response to infection. The TREM-1 gene codes for the triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1, which is part of the pro-inflammatory response of the immune system.

This study aimed to determine the prognostic influence of RF and post-operative hemodialysis on short-term survival following left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation. This retrospective study includes 68 patients undergoing LVAD treatment.

The correct preoperative diagnosis is only achieved in a relatively low number of patients (20-50%). This uncommon condition presents diagnostic challenges and requires surgical excision in most cases.

During the past few years we treated several patients with a bullous form of erysipelas involving the lower legs. We believe their disease had a more protracted course than patients with nonbullous erysipelas.

This presentation reflects a rare disseminated form of the disease with extensive cutaneous and systemic lesions, and further illustrates the difficulty in diagnosing systemic sporotrichosis infection.

The perforating disorders tend to have atypical clinical features when associated with renal disease. The exact pathogenic mechanism by which renal disease predisposes to a perforating disease remains to be elucidated but is likely to be related to minor trauma, which occurs in renal disease.
