Superconductivity often emerges as a dome around a quantum critical point (QCP) where long-range order is suppressed to zero temperature, mostly in magnetically ordered materials. However, the emergence of superconductivity at charge-order QCPs remains shrouded in mystery, despite its relevance to high-temperature superconductors and other exotic phases of matter. Here, we present resistance measurements proving that a dome of superconductivity surrounds the putative charge-density-wave QCP in pristine samples of titanium diselenide tuned with hydrostatic pressure.

In the Madre de Dios department of the southern Peruvian Amazon, ASGM activities have created landscapes marred by deforestation and post-mining water bodies (mining ponds) with notable methylation potential. While data on Hg contamination in terrestrial wildlife remains limited, this study measures Hg exposure in several terrestrial bird species as bioindicators.

Crucially, these applications depend on the lifetimes and recombination dynamics of photogenerated charge carriers, which have primarily been studied in monolayers obtained from labour-intensive mechanical exfoliation or costly chemical vapour deposition. On the other hand, liquid phase exfoliation presents a high throughput and cost-effective method to produce dispersions of mono- and few-layer nanosheets.

Although clinician experiences with interprofessional collaboration have been studied in each of the rehabilitation professions separately, limited research has been conducted on the shared attitudes or experiences across speech-language pathology, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. The purpose of this study was to understand speech-language pathologist, physical therapist, and occupational therapist experiences of interprofessional collaborations.

Knowledge gaps of pollution exposure could obscure conservation threats in the Neotropics: a region that supports over half of the world's species, but faces ongoing land-use change and Hg emission via artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM). Due to their global distribution and sensitivity to pollution, birds provide a valuable opportunity as bioindicators to assess how accelerating Hg emissions impact an ecosystem's ability to support biodiversity, and ultimately, global health.

Here, we investigate the ultrafast transient response of semiconducting monolayer 2-MoTe encapsulated with BN using broadband optical pump-probe microscopy. The sub-40 fs pump pulse triggers extremely intense and long-lived coherent oscillations in the spectral region of the A' and B' exciton resonances, up to ∼20% of the maximum transient signal, due to the displacive excitation of the out-of-plane phonon.

Here we show in one of the largest clinically annotated canine osteosarcoma transcriptional datasets that two previously reported, as well as de novo gene signatures devised through single sample Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (ssGSEA), have prognostic utility in both human and canine patients. Shared molecular pathway alterations are seen in immune cell signaling and activation including TH1 and TH2 signaling, interferon signaling, and inflammatory responses.

Previous investigations inferred that the occurrence of the Mott phase is limited to the surface only of bulk specimens, but recent analysis on thin samples revealed that the Mott-like behavior, observed in the monolayer, is rapidly suppressed with increasing thickness. Here, we report combined time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and theoretical investigations of the electronic structure of 1T-TaSe_{2}.

In Plasmodium berghei, the transcription factor AP2-G is required and sufficient for this switch, but how a particular sex is determined in a haploid parasite remains unknown. Using a global screen of barcoded mutants, we here identify genes essential for the formation of either male or female sexual forms and validate their importance for transmission.

SUD is exceedingly prevalent amongst Indigenous peoples due to the health impacts of colonisation, residential school trauma, and IGT on this population's health. We evaluated the effectiveness of a Two-Eyed Seeing approach in a four-week harm reduction residential treatment programme for clients with a history of SUD and IGT.

To define the oncogenic mechanisms underlying PRC2 loss, we use engineered cells that dynamically reassemble a competent PRC2 coupled with single-cell sequencing from clinical samples. We discover a two-pronged oncogenic process: first, PRC2 loss leads to remodeling of the bivalent chromatin and enhancer landscape, causing the upregulation of developmentally regulated transcription factors that enforce a transcriptional circuit serving as the cell's core vulnerability.

A simple first-principles approach is used to estimate the core level shifts observed in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy for the 4f electrons of Hf, Ta, W, and Re; these elements were selected because their 4f levels are relatively close to the Fermi energy. The approach is first tested by modeling the surface core level shifts of low-index surfaces of the four elemental metals, followed by its application to the well-studied material TaSe in the commensurate charge density wave (CDW) phase, where agreement with experimental data is found to be good, showing that this approach can yield insights into modifications of the CDW. Finally, unterminated surface core level shifts in the hypothetical MXene TaC are modeled, and the potential of XPS for the investigation of the surface termination of MXenes is demonstrated.

The Pathology and Laboratory Medicine domain within IHE has brought together subject matter experts, electronic health record vendors, and digital imaging vendors, to initiate development of a series of digital pathology interoperability guidelines, called "integration profiles" within IHE. This effort begins with documentation of common use cases, followed by identification of available data and technology standards best utilized to achieve those use cases.

This study is the first to empirically determine whether normal cognitive test scores underrepresent functioning when PVTs are failed. Participants, randomly assigned to either a simulated malingering group ( = 50) instructed to mildly suppress test performances or a best-effort/control group ( = 50), completed neuropsychological tests which included the North American Adult Reading Test (NAART), California Verbal Learning Test - 2 Edition (CVLT-II), and Test of Memory Malingering (TOMM).

Combined quantum oscillation and magnetotransport measurements show that a small electron pocket dominates the electronic properties at low temperatures while an electron and hole pocket contribute at room temperature. At the CDW transition, an abrupt Fermi surface reconstruction and a minimum in the electron and hole mobilities are extracted from two-band and Kohler analysis of magnetotransport measurements.

Here, we define the core regulatory circuitry of rhabdomyosarcoma and identify critical CR TF dependencies. These CR TFs build SEs that have the highest levels of histone acetylation, yet paradoxically the same SEs also harbor the greatest amounts of histone deacetylases.

The route of HSV-1 entry into keratinocytes has been the subject of limited investigation, but it is proposed to involve pH-dependent endocytosis, requiring the gD-binding receptor nectin-1. Here, we have utilized the nTERT human keratinocyte cell line as a new model for dissecting the mechanism of HSV-1 entry into the host.
