In this work, for the first time, an ion-imprinted polymer was developed for selective extraction and determination of gold ions. To increase the sorbent efficiency, this polymer was coated on a novel nanoporous carbon-based material, carbohydrate-derived Max-Planck Gesellschaft 1, which is also the first example of grafting imprinted polymer on nanoporous-carbon material. These particles were applied successfully for preconcentration of ultratrace amount of gold ions, following determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA rapid and simple quantitative method for preconcentration and determination of haloperidol in biological samples was developed using ultrasound-assisted emulsification microextraction, based on the solidification of floating organic droplet combined with HPLC-DAD. The effects of several factors were investigated. A total of 30 μL of 1-undecanol as an extraction solvent was injected slowly into a glass-centrifuge tube containing 4 mL alkaline sample solution that was located inside the ultrasonic water bath.

The molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) which is based on loratadine as the template was synthesized successfully by precipitation polymerization and was used as a selective sorbent. This technique was applied for preconcentration, sample preparation, and determination of loratadine using high performance liquid chromatography-photo diode array detection (HPLC-PDA).

Methods: Three items including self-care, mobility, and daily activities were selected as variables for development of the ASDS. The variables were provisionally graded on a 2- to 4-point scale based on the importance of each item.
Background: Various methods of osteotomy have been proposed for the treatment of cubitus varus. We designed a modification of the step-cut osteotomy to achieve more correction of the deformity. We describe this new technique called spike translation step-cut osteotomy and report the clinical and radiographic outcomes (deformity correction, ROM, function, osteotomy healing, complications) in a series of patients treated for cubitus varus using this technique.

Several factors are effective on tendency to red meat consumption. The 2007's report of the world Cancer Research Fund makes the recommendation to limit the consumption of red meat to less than 500 g per week.

Numerical simulations are performed based on real experimental parameters associated with a SR-OPO designed in our laboratory, which uses periodically-poled LiNbO3 (PPLN) as the nonlinear crystal, where the results of the theoretical model are compared with the measurements. The out-coupled power instability is simulated for a wide range of input pump powers the SR-OPO oscillation threshold.

The compact, all-periodically-poled source employs a 48-mm-long, multigrating MgO doped periodically poled lithium niobate (MgO:PPLN) crystal for the OPO and a 30-mm-long, fan-out grating MgO-doped stoichiometric periodically poled lithium tantalate (MgO:sPPLT) crystal for intracavity SHG, providing as much as 3.7 W of near-infrared power at 793 nm, together with 4 W of idler power at 3232 nm, at an overall extraction efficiency of 28%.

There is an abundance of evidence showing that repeated use of 3,4-methlylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA; ecstasy) is associated with brain dysfunction, memory disturbance, locomotor hyperactivity, and hyperthermia. MDMA is toxic to both the serotonergic neurons and dopaminergic system. Adenosine is an endogenous purine nucleoside with a neuromodulatory function in the central nervous system.

The application of the sorbent was investigated for pre-concentration and determination of lead and cadmium ions in aqueous samples. Effects of various factors such as the sample pH, eluent parameters (type, concentration and volume) and time (adsorption and desorption) were appraised.

We report an actively mode-locked continuous-wave (cw) optical parametric oscillator in singly resonant oscillator (SRO) configuration, generating stable 230 ps pulses at 80 MHz repetition rate. The idler-resonant cw SRO, configured in standing-wave cavity, is based on MgO:sPPLT as the nonlinear gain material and pumped at 532 nm. Mode-locking is achieved by direct deployment of an intracavity phase modulator close to one of the SRO cavity end mirrors.

This paper describes the synthesis and application of novel magnetic metal-organic framework (MOF) [(Fe(3)O(4)-Pyridine)/Cu(3)(BTC)(2)] for preconcentration of Pd(II) and its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). A Box-Behnken design was used to find the optimum conditions for the preconcentration procedure through response surface methodology. Three variables including amount of magnetic MOF, extraction time, and pH of extraction were selected as factors for adsorption step, and in desorption step, four parameters including type, volume, and concentration of eluent, and desorption time were selected in the optimization study.
