Article Synopsis
  • This review examines the impact of Vitamin C on preterm and premature rupture of membranes (PPROM/PROM) during pregnancy, analyzing data from nine randomized controlled trials with over 16,000 participants.
  • The findings suggest that while Vitamin C supplementation does not significantly prevent PPROM/PROM compared to placebo, low-dose monotherapy (around 100 mg/day) shows notable benefits.
  • Specifically, women with a history of PROM in previous pregnancies experience greater advantages from Vitamin C, indicating its potential effectiveness in this specific group.

Article Synopsis
  • The manuscript reviews the effectiveness of yoga as a treatment for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) by systematically analyzing existing research studies.
  • A total of 14 studies were identified, with 11 included for quantitative analysis, showing that yoga can positively impact PMS, especially in most sub-domains.
  • Limitations of the review include variations in study designs, potential publication bias, and a restrictive selection criterion, but the findings still support yoga's benefits for PMS management.

Primary pelvic hydatid cysts are a rare entity and are often overlooked as a differential diagnosis of a pelvic-space-occupying lesion particularly in non-endemic regions. Unpreparedness and a hasty decision on the surgical approach may end in life-threatening complications and systemic dissemination of the disease. We report the case of a 55-year-old postmenopausal woman with a history of two previous unsuccessful surgeries to remove pelvic cystic lesions due to dense adhesions between the surrounding gut wall, bladder, and the cyst wall.
