A Review of Flatfish (Order: Pleuronectiformes) Diversity in Indian Waters: A Literature Overview.

The present study provides a comprehensive overview of the taxonomic diversity of flatfish in Indian waters. Flatfish play a significant role in artisanal and commercial fisheries in India and are frequently caught as by-catch in trawling operations. However, their benthic nature makes them particularly vulnerable to the pressures of overfishing and bottom trawling practices.

Primary extracranial meningioma of maxilla- A case report.

Meningiomas represent one of the commonest benign neural tissue neoplasms, but it is an extremely rare finding in the oral cavity. It tends to arise from the arachnoid cap cells pertaining to dura matter of the Meninges, the choroid plexus, or the brain stem. Herein, we report the case of a 36-year-old male patient, who visited our Department with the chief complaint of facial swelling associated with asymmetry.

Noneruption of teeth in amelogenesis imperfecta: A report of two cases and review.

Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) comprises a complicated group of conditions, involving a structural defect of the tooth enamel, owing to certain genetic disturbances. It is expressed as an autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive or X-linked recessive trait. The structural pattern and clinical appearances of all the teeth, including those in the deciduous as well as the permanent dentition, are affected.

Involving private healthcare practitioners in an urban NCD sentinel surveillance system: lessons learned from Pune, India.

Background: Despite the rising impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) on public health in India, lack of quality data and routine surveillance hampers the planning process for NCD prevention and control. Current surveillance programs focus largely on communicable diseases and do not adequately include the private healthcare sector as a major source of care in cities.

Objective: The objective of the study was to conceptualize, implement, and evaluate a prototype for an urban NCD sentinel surveillance system among private healthcare practitioners providing primary care in Pune, India.

Background: Participation of private practitioners in routine disease surveillance in India is minimal despite the fact that they account for over 70% of the primary healthcare provision. We aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of private practitioners in the city of Pune toward disease surveillance. Our goal was to identify what barriers and facilitators determine their participation in current and future surveillance efforts.
