Severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (sBPD) requiring invasive mechanical ventilation is a heterogeneous disease process that contributes to morbidity and mortality in infants. As the most common lung disease of prematurity, sBPD has a multitude of overlapping cardiac, airway, pulmonary vascular, and infectious phenotypic presentations that progress through four different phases of care. Premature infants with sBPD are at a high risk of acute decompensation and subsequent cardiopulmonary arrest.

Introduction: With the urgent need for clinicians capable of responding to the opioid crisis, an interprofessional education (IPE) pilot curriculum was launched to assess trainee self-efficacy in managing chronic pain and mental health conditions, and attitudes toward interprofessional practice among resident physicians, family nurse practitioners (FNP), and physician assistant (PA) students.

The melanocortin-3 receptor (MC3R) regulates GABA release from agouti-related protein (AgRP) nerve terminals and thus tonically suppresses multiple circuits involved in feeding behavior and energy homeostasis. Here, we examined the role of the MC3R and the melanocortin system in regulating the response to various anorexigenic agents. The genetic deletion or pharmacological inhibition of the MC3R, or subthreshold doses of an MC4R agonist, improved the dose responsiveness to glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP1) agonists, as assayed by inhibition of food intake and weight loss.

Significance: Color differences between healthy and diseased tissue in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract are detected visually by clinicians during white light endoscopy; however, the earliest signs of cancer are often just a slightly different shade of pink compared to healthy tissue making it hard to detect. Improving contrast in endoscopy is important for early detection of disease in the GI tract during routine screening and surveillance.

We employed a structural bioinformatics approach to develop novel peptides with predicted affinity to the binding site for negative allosteric modulators (NAMs) of metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5). Primary screening in zebrafish () revealed a stimulatory effect of two peptides, LCGM-10 and LCGM-15. Although stapled α-helical peptides can address challenging targets, their advancement is impeded by poor understandings for making them cell permeable while avoiding off-target toxicities. By synthesizing >350 molecules, we present workflows for identifying stapled peptides against Mdm2(X) with in vivo activity and no off-target effects. Key insights include a clear correlation between lipophilicity and permeability, removal of positive charge to avoid off-target toxicities, judicious anionic residue placement to enhance solubility/behavior, optimization of C-terminal length/helicity to enhance potency, and optimization of staple type/number to avoid polypharmacology.

Objective: This study aimed to examine fetal and neonatal inflammatory and neurologic complications associated with maternal coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection.

Study Design: Case-series using a convenience sample of neonates cared for in a large referral-based children's hospital neonatal intensive care unit between September 2021 and May 2022.

Results: We identified seven neonates with exposure to maternal severe acute respiratory syndrome related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and a presentation consistent with inflammatory complications.
