Alternative Dosing of Eltrombopag for the Treatment of Chronic, Steroid-Refractory Immune Thrombocytopenia.

Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) presents challenges in management, particularly in cases refractory to corticosteroids. Thrombopoietin receptor (TPO-R) agonists, such as eltrombopag, offer alternative therapeutic options. We report a case of a 72-year-old South Asian male with steroid-refractory chronic ITP who achieved a favorable response with biweekly eltrombopag dosing.

Evaluating Static Bone Cysts (SBCs) Through Long-Term Volumetric Analysis Using CBCT: A Study with 6-Month Follow-Up.

Background: Salivary gland bone defects are static lesions which are rare entities, generally asymptomatic and found in routine imaging exams. However, in atypical cases or when misdiagnosed, surgical intervention is carried out. Purpose: a) The study is intended to investigate the frequency of SBC's and to describe the radiological characteristics of its subtypes; b) To evaluate the efficacy of volumetric analysis tool in CBCT and; c) To describe the confirmative role of CBCT in the diagnosis of SBC's without the need for surgical intervention.

Objectives: Spondyloarthritis (SpA) results from the interplay between genetic and environmental factors. An emerging modifiable factor is the human intestinal microbiota, which multiple studies in children and adults have shown to be abnormal in SpA patients, including enthesitis related arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). However, HLA-B27 itself appears to impact the contents of the microbiota and is more common in SpA patients versus controls, thus serving as a confounding factor in most comparative studies.

Gastrointestinal duplication cysts: what a radiologist needs to know.

Gastrointestinal tract duplication cysts are rare congenital malformations which can be diagnosed as early as the prenatal period but are frequently found in infancy or incidentally in adulthood. They can be seen throughout the alimentary tract with the most common involving the distal ileum and second most common the esophagus. Many duplication cysts are asymptomatic and thus discovered as an incidental imaging finding, though they can also be symptomatic with an array of clinical presentations dependent largely on their location.

Post-traumatic intrathoracic splenosis and role of Tc-99m Sulfur colloid scintigraphy in confirmation.

Splenosis is acquired ectopic splenic tissue, usually a sequela of trauma. Its imaging appearance is can be deceiving, and at unusual locations may be mistaken for an alternate cause mass lesion. We present one such unusual case of splenosis in a 53 year-old man with history of heart failure involving the thoracic cavity identified as splenosis on nuclear medicine imaging and suspicion was raised given the remote history splenectomy after splenic rupture during trauma.

Methods: We included 211 adults, 40-75 years old with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) or nonradiographic axSpA from 2 sites, who had available data on comorbidities, medication use, blood pressure measures, and laboratory cholesterol values.

Objective: This is a small pilot study to evaluate the effectiveness of an intravenous (IV) valproate sodium therapy protocol for migraine prevention in a population of patients with chronic migraine refractory to multiple preventive medications.

We propose an interactive approach that enables a user to efficiently obtain near perfect vessel segmentation with a few mouse clicks. Given two seed points, the approach seeks an optimal path between them by minimizing a cost function.
