Purpose: The present meta-analysis compares laparoscopic loop ileostomy reversal (LLIR) with open loop ileostomy reversal (OLIR) to evaluate the advantages of the laparoscopic technique compared to the traditional open technique in ileostomy reversal.
Methods: Primary endpoints were hospital stay and overall complications. Secondary endpoints were operative time, EBL, readmission, medical complications, surgical complications, reoperation, wound infection, anastomotic leak, intestinal obstruction, and cost of the procedures.
The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare the results of laparoscopy-assisted total gastrectomy (LATG) with those of open total gastrectomy (OTG) for advanced gastric cancer. Patients undergoing total gastrectomy for a T4a, N0-3a-b, M0 gastric adenocarcinoma were divided into two groups. Patients in group A (n = 122) underwent LAG, whereas patients in group B (n = 109) underwent OTG.

A retrospective evaluation of 57 consecutive patients undergoing distal spleno-pancreatectomy for adenocarcinoma was performed. The pancreatic isthmus was systematically straight-sectioned with a cold knife, and the remnant was stapled close without additional stitches or adjuncts.

We describe a very rare case of retroperitoneal metastasis from a non-functioning neuroendocrine tumor of the ethmoid region and focus on the various issues related to NENs, from their nosological classification up to the most recent acquisitions in the diagnostic and therapeutic field.
Presentation Of Case: A woman presented with a mass in the right retroperitoneal area that infiltrated liver and kidney.
Safety and effectiveness evaluation of subarachnoid anesthesia implemented with hyperbaric Prilocaine in reduced dose (30mg) in combination with Fentanyl (20mcg), for the purpose of ensuring an optimal analgesia in open inguinal hernia repair. Although the local anesthesia is the first line treatment for open inguinal hernia repair, a minority of patients is not eligible because of obesity or big groin hernia, requiring a high dose of local anesthetic. Subarachnoid anesthesia implemented with hyperbaric Prilocaine in reduced dose in combination with Fentanyl may be a good alternative.

Differential diagnosis with pancreatic tumor, especially with non-functional neuroendocrine tumor (NF-NET), may be very hard and sometimes it entails unnecessary surgery. A combination of CT scan, MRI, and nuclear medicine can confirm the diagnosis of IPAS.

Presentation Of The Case: We report a case of sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (SANT) of the spleen mimicking a splenic abscess in a patient with imaging studies that failed to differentiate this lesion from other splenic lesions.
Discussion: SANT of the spleen is a rare condition, with only less than 100 cases reported in the literature.
