The declaration of the conclusion of the COVID-19 pandemic notwithstanding, coronavirus remains prevalent in circulation, and the potential emergence of novel variants of concern introduces the possibility of new outbreaks. Moreover, it is not clear how quickly and to what extent the effectiveness of vaccination will decline as the virus continues to mutate. One possible solution to combat the rapidly mutating coronavirus is the creation of safe vaccine platforms that can be rapidly adapted to deliver new, specific antigens in response to viral mutations.

To offset these shortcomings, we have proposed a simple, nonsurgical, and reproducible method of unilateral total damage of the left lung in ICR mice. This model is based on the intrabronchial administration of a mixture of bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from the cell wall of S.

A significant increase in the number of new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection demonstrates the urgency of finding drugs effective against this pathogen. The aim of this work was to evaluate the in vitro antiviral efficacy of human recombinant alpha-2b interferon (IFN-α2b) against SARS-CoV-2 virus.

We show that the resolution can be improved by adaptively matching the size of the subaperture to the characteristic size of the turbulence. Further improvement is achieved by the deconvolution of a number of subimages registered simultaneously through multiple subapertures.

We map our binary mixture onto an effective one-component system by integrating out the degrees of freedom of the polymer coils. We derive a formal expression for the exact effective Hamiltonian of the colloidal rods, i.

We investigate the asymptotic decay of the total correlation function h (1,2) in molecular fluids. To this end, we expand the angular dependence of h (1,2) and the direct correlation function c (1,2) in the Ornstein-Zernike equation in a complete set of rotational invariants. We show that all the harmonic expansion coefficients h l1l2l) (r) are governed by a common exponential decay length and a common wavelength of oscillations in the isotropic phase.

Sedimentation and multiphase equilibria in a suspension of hard colloidal rods are explored by analyzing the (macroscopic) osmotic equilibrium conditions. We observe that gravity enables the system to explore a whole range of phases varying from the most dilute phase to the densest phase, i.e.

The determination of the nematic order parameter S and the orientational distribution function (ODF) from scattering data involve severe approximations. The validity of these are studied here using Monte-Carlo simulations of hard spherocylinders with an aspect ratio of 15 for varying densities in the isotropic and nematic phase. The "exact" ODF of the rods, the "exact" value of S, and the intensity scatter I(q) are determined directly in simulation.

In 82 patients from 20--35 years of age with vegetative-vascular dystonia the authors studied clinical variants of the disease, the bioelectrical brain activity, the state of cerebral circulation, the visual analyzer, the cardiovascular system, histamine, protein, lipid, carbohydrate metabolism and the state of coagulative blood system. In the majority of the cases the studies demonstrated hystaminemia, some shifts in the biochemical blood content, an increased brain vascular tone, a drop of blood repletion and disturbances of regional hemodynamics. The studies also depicted a decreased functional lability of the main cortical bioelectrical processes, disturbances of electric activity and propulsive possibilities of the myocardium.

In 160 patients with disorders of brain circulation in cerebral atherosclerosis, 68 normals and 38 patients with different neurological diseases (a control group), a special study was undertaken to study the antibrain antibodies with the aid of a complement fixation test (CFT), and a test of complement utilization (CUT). Positive results in the CFT and CUT were seen in patients with ischemic strokes and transient disorders of brain circulation. The formation of antibodies to brain tissues depends upon their type, duration of the disease and is more characteristic of the rehabilitation period.

The authors conducted a study of the histamine system (H), diaminoxidase (DO), histaminopexic index (HPI) using the biological method in 127 patients with hypertensive disease and cerebral atherosclerosis with brain circulation disturbances and in 23 patients with atherosclerotic parkinsonism. It was displayed that in the majority of the patients the H level and HPI value were pathologically changed, but DO activity was disturbed to a lesser degree. The authors demonstrated some correlations between the fluctuations of H-DO-HPI system and the character of the brain circulation disturbances, the period of the stroke, severity of the disease and an etiological factor.
