Impact of Symptoms of Maternal Anxiety and Depression on Quality of Life of Children with Cerebral Palsy.

Introduction: Cerebral palsy (CP) interferes with the quality of life (QOL) of children with CP, and given that parents report having to often guide their children's decision making, it is important to understand the psychosocial factors that have a potential influence on parent-proxy reports. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of maternal anxiety and depression symptoms on parent proxy-reported health-related QOL (HRQOL) for children with CP, while controlling other clinical and demographical variables that may have affect HRQOL.

Methods: The HRQOL scores of 97 outpatients with CP, aged 7-18 years, were assessed using the Pediatric QOL Inventory, Parent version (PedsQL-P).

An assessment of marital adjustment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Aim To investigate marital adjustment in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and factors affecting this. Methods A total of 32 patients diagnosed with Steinbrocker class 1-2 rheumatoid arthritis and 32 healthy individuals from a similar age group were included. Sociodemographic characteristics, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), short-form 36(SF-36) and the dyadic adjustment scale (DAS) were evaluated in both groups.

Evaluation of paravertebral muscle atrophy and fatty degeneration in ankylosing spondylitis.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess morphological changes in the paravertebral muscles in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-one patients diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and a 50 member control group were included in the study. The surface area of the multifidus and erector spinae muscles was measured at four levels between L1 and L5, and fatty degeneration in these muscles was scored.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the relationships of depression, anxiety, anxiety sensitivity, and perceived social support with conversion symptoms in adolescents with conversion disorder (CD).

Methods: Fifty outpatients, aged 8-18 years, who had been diagnosed with CD and members of a control group were assessed using the psychological questionnaires.

Association between apparent diffusion coefficient and intervertebral disc degeneration in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.

The effectiveness of methylphenidate in the treatment of encopresis independent from attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder symptoms.

Several medications are reported to be effective in treatment of encopresis. However, mechanisms of action related to these drugs are not known. We report a patient with ADHD and encopresis whose encopretic signs have disappeared with long acting methylphenidate while they have not changed with atomoxetine.

Objective: To assess the effects of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptom dimensions on Internet addiction (IA) after controlling for Internet usage features among high school students.

Methods: This study consisted of 640 students (331 females and 309 males) ranging from 14 to 19 years of age. The Internet Addiction Scale, the Conners-Wells' Adolescent Self-Report Scale-Short Form, and a personal information form were completed by the participants.

A new isometric quadriceps-strengthening exercise using EMG-biofeedback.

A new isometric contraction quadriceps-strengthening exercise was developed to restore the quadriceps strength lost after knee surgery more rapidly. This study evaluated the results of this new method. Patients were taught to perform the isometric quadriceps-strengthening exercise in the unaffected knee in the supine position, and then they performed it in the affected knee.
