Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the effectiveness of four different irrigants (17% EDTA, 18% etidronic acid, 10% citric acid, and 7% maleic acid) in removing the smear layer from the apical third of root canals during endodontic treatment.
  • Sixty single-rooted teeth were divided into four groups, and a scanning electron microscope was used to analyze the smear layer removal after using the irrigants along with sodium hypochlorite.
  • Results showed that 7% maleic acid was the most effective in removing the smear layer, while 10% citric acid was more efficient than EDTA and etidronic acid, highlighting the importance
