Nanostructured zinc carbonate hydroxide microflakes: assessing the toxicity against erythrocytes and L929 cells.

Nanostructured materials have been suggested to be used as a source of dietary zinc for livestock animals. In this study, we assessed the cytotoxicity of newly synthesized nanostructured zinc carbonate hydroxide (ZnCH) Zn(CO)(OH)microflakes. Cytotoxicity of the microflakes was assessed against murine L929 cell line and rat mature erythrocytes.

An Overview of Hexavalent Chromium-Induced Necroptosis, Pyroptosis, and Ferroptosis.

Heavy metals are common environmental industrial pollutants. Due to anthropogenic activity, chromium, especially its hexavalent form [Cr(VI)], is a widespread environmental contaminant that poses a threat to human health. In this review paper, we summarize the currently reported molecular mechanisms involved in chromium toxicity with a focus on the induction of pro-inflammatory non-apoptotic cell death pathways such as necroptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis.

Over the past decade, there has been a notable surge in research dedicated to unraveling the intricate role of tight junction proteins in blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage associated with ischemic stroke. This bibliometric analysis explores the expansive landscape of occludin research, a key tight junction protein, during the years 2000-2023, shedding light on the global scientific contributions, collaborations, and emerging trends in this critical area of stroke pathogenesis. China and the United States emerge as significant contributors, underscoring their prominence in advancing our understanding of tight junction proteins.

Attitude toward vaccination against COVID-19 and acceptance of the national "QazVac" vaccine in the Aktobe city population, West Kazakhstan: A cross-sectional survey.

The scale of emergency caused by COVID-19, the ease of survey, and the crowdsourcing deployment guaranteed by the latest technology have allowed unprecedented access to data describing behavioral changes induced by the pandemic. The study aimed to present the survey results identifying attitudes toward vaccination against COVID-19 among the population of West Kazakhstan, the level of confidence in the national QazVac vaccine, and the role of different sources of information on COVID-19 in decision-making concerning vaccination. A computer-assisted survey was conducted using WhatsApp messenger.
