Objective: Determine whether pollutants such as fire smoke-related particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns (PM) are associated with incident rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and RA-associated interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD).
Methods: This case-control study used Veterans Affairs data 10/1/2009-12/31/2018.
Background: Uncertainty exists regarding patient outcomes when using TNF inhibitors versus other biological and targeted synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) in rheumatoid arthritis-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD). We compared survival and respiratory hospitalisation outcomes following initiation of TNF-inhibitor or non-TNF inhibitor biological or targeted synthetic DMARDs for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis-associated ILD.
Methods: We did a retrospective, active-comparator, new-user, observational cohort study with propensity score matching following the target trial emulation framework using US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) electronic and administrative health records.

Characteristics of the referring hospital and transferred patients were obtained through the American Hospital Association Directory, a hospital transfer database maintained by the accepting hospital, and the electronic medical record.

Purpose: Automatic registration between abdominal ultrasound (US) and computed tomography (CT) images is needed to enhance interventional guidance of renal procedures, but it remains an open research challenge. We propose a novel method that doesn't require an initial registration estimate (a global method) and also handles registration ambiguity caused by the organ's natural symmetry. Combined with a registration refinement algorithm, this method achieves robust and accurate kidney registration while avoiding manual initialization.

We aim to retrospectively compare the accuracy of four guidelines in recommending surgery for high-risk IPMNs, and assess the accuracy of elevated CA-19-9 levels and imaging characteristics of IPMNs considered high-risk in predicting malignancy or high-grade dysplasia (HGD).
Methods: The final histopathological diagnosis of surgically resected high-risk IPMNs during 2013-2020 were compared to preoperative surgical indications, as enumerated in four guidelines: the 2015 American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), 2017 International Consensus, 2018 European Study Group, and 2018 American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).

Metastatic melanoma is still a difficult-to-treat cancer type owing to its frequent resistance mechanisms to targeted and immunotherapy. As an important element of an enhanced and individualized pre-treatment verification, EMT can play a pivotal role in detecting treatment errors and uncertainties to increase patient safety.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is two-fold: to design, develop and test a dedicated measurement protocol for the use of EMT-enabled afterloaders in BT and to collect and compare the data acquired from three different radiation oncology centers in different clinical environments.
Three-dimensional (3D) human skin equivalents have emerged as valuable tools in skin research, replacing animal experimentation and precluding the need for patient biopsies. In this study, we advanced 3D skin equivalents to model the inflammatory skin diseases atopic dermatitis and psoriasis by cytokine stimulation, and were successful in integrating TH1 T cells into skin models to develop an immunocompetent 3D psoriasis model. We performed in-depth histological and functional characterization of 3D skin equivalents and validated them in terms of tissue architecture, pathological changes, expression of antimicrobial peptides and Staphylococcus aureus colonization using 3D reconstruction by multiphoton microscopy and phenotyping by highly multiplexed 'co-detection by indexing' (CODEX) microscopy.

Purpose: We evaluated associations between adiponectin and the risk of diabetes among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a systemic inflammatory disease associated with metabolic disturbance.
