Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to determine if giving the PPSV23 pneumococcal vaccine and the quadrivalent influenza vaccine (QIV) at the same time is as effective as giving them one after the other in adults aged 65 and older.
  • Results showed that the pneumococcal antibody response to the simultaneous administration was almost identical to the sequential method, with both showing a high response rate for serotype 23F (around 77.8% vs. 77.6%).
  • Additionally, there were no significant differences in immune response to influenza strains or increased adverse reactions between the two methods, indicating simultaneous vaccination is a safe and effective option.
