Article Synopsis
  • Myxofibrosarcoma is a common type of cancer in older patients, known for its tendency to recur after surgery, and the study aims to improve understanding of its clinical features and treatment options.
  • Analyzing data from 349 patients in Japan, researchers found survival rates of 93.1% at 2 years and 84.3% at 5 years, identifying key factors like tumor size and location that influence prognosis.
  • The study concludes that larger tumors and those invading surrounding structures lead to poorer outcomes, highlighting the necessity for new classification systems and treatment strategies for patients with worse prognoses.

Dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDLPS) is morphologically characterized by well-differentiated liposarcomas associated with high-grade non-lipogenic sarcoma and molecularly characterized by the coamplification of MDM2 and CDK4(12q14-15). DDLPS is highly aggressive, and effective systemic chemotherapy has not been developed yet. In this study, we established a novel DDLPS cell line, NCC-DDLPS6-C1, as a potential tool for the development of novel therapies.

Brodie's abscess is a relatively rare subacute form of osteomyelitis. Early diagnosis is challenging because of its insidious onset and vague symptoms. Magnetic resonance imaging is helpful in the diagnosis of Brodie's abscess; however, to date, no study has described the imaging findings of this disease in the early stage.
