View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjectives: We have been performing preoperative coronary artery assessments and implementing coronary revascularization or intraoperative adjunctive therapies as needed in patients scheduled for carotid artery stenting (CAS) to prevent ischemic heart disease. In this study, we report the results of a retrospective observation of patients who underwent CAS under our treatment strategy to prevent perioperative coronary ischemic complications.
Methods: A total of 224 cases from January 2014 to December 2021 were included.
Rotaxane cross-linkers enhance the toughness of the resulting rotaxane cross-linked polymers through a stress dispersion effect, which is attributed to the mobility of the interlocked structure. To date, the compositional diversity of rotaxane cross-linkers has been limited, and the poor compatibility of these cross-linkers with peptides and proteins has made their use in such materials challenging. The synthesis of a rotaxane composed of peptides may result in a biodegradable cross-linker that is compatible with peptides and proteins, allowing the fortification of polypeptides and proteins and ultimately leading to the development of innovative materials that possess excellent mechanical properties and biodegradability.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Bioprosthetic valve fracture (BVF) during valve-in-valve TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) is a procedural adjunct designed to optimize the expansion of the transcatheter heart valve and reduce patient-prosthesis mismatch by using a high-pressure balloon to intentionally fracture the surgical heart valve (SHV).
Methods: We performed bench testing on 15 bioprosthetic SHV to examine the optimal balloon size and pressure for BVF. We assessed morphological changes and expansion of SHV by computed tomography angiography.

Purpose: An observational study was conducted to evaluate the pharmacokinetics of venetoclax and its impact on the efficacy and safety for Japanese patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) treated with venetoclax and azacitidine therapy.
Methods: The association between the plasma concentration, after the first cycle of azacitidine and venetoclax therapy, and the efficacy and safety was evaluated in 33 patients with untreated or relapsed/refractory AML.
Results: Full dose of venetoclax was administered to all patients.

Objectives: Anastomotic leakage in esophageal cancer surgery may be reduced by evaluating the blood flow to the reconstructed organ, but quantitative evaluation of arterial and venous blood flow is difficult. This study aimed to quantitatively assess blood flow using a new technique, as well as determine the relationship between the blood flow in the gastric tube and anastomotic leakage using near-infrared spectroscopy.
Methods: This single-center, observational study included 50 patients aged 51-82 years who underwent radical esophagectomy with gastric tube reconstruction for esophageal cancer between June 2022 and January 2023.
