Functional dissociation of brain neural activity induced by opening or closing the eyes has been well established. However, how the temporal dynamics of the underlying neuronal modulations differ between these eye conditions during movement-related behaviours is less known. Using a robotic-assisted motor imagery brain-computer interface (MI BCI), we measured neural activity over the motor regions with electroencephalography (EEG) in a stroke survivor during his longitudinal rehabilitation training.

The porous nanostructures were replicated into polymer films to create a moth-eye anti-reflecting surface by a roll-to-roll UV replication process. The angle dependent optical transmission of the resulting polymer films exhibited up to a 2% increase in transmission at a normal angle and up to a 5% increase in transmission at a 70° angle of incidence to an equivalent film with a surface replicated from polished aluminum.

An in situ small-angle x-ray scattering study of the nanoparticle displacement in a self-assembled monolayer as a function of a supporting membrane strain is presented. The average nanoparticle spacing is 6.7 nm in the unstrained state and increases in the applied force direction, following linearly the membrane strain which reaches the maximum value of 11%.

The technique of grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering provided the possibility to track in situ the nanoparticle pair correlation function of the sample processed in a UV-ozone reactor. The analysis revealed a total shift of approximately 1 nm of the nanoparticle nearest-neighbor distance.

The influence of anodisation voltage and anodisation time on nanotube wall thickness, diameter and length has been investigated.

Single-electron charging (so-called quantized double-layer charging) of nanoparticles is detected by cyclic voltammetry as current peaks and the charging effect can be switched on/off by the electric field in the surface region induced by the excess of negative/positive charged defect states in the amorphous silicon layer. The particular charge states in amorphous silicon are created by the simultaneous application of a suitable bias voltage and illumination before the measurement.

The grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS) technique is employed for an in situ tracking of the reciprocal space, with a 3 ms delay time between subsequent frames delivered by a new generation of X-ray cameras. A focused synchrotron beam and sophisticated sample oscillations make it possible to relate the dynamic reciprocal to direct space features and to localize the self-assembly.

The redox processes observed in an electrochemical cell filled with redistilled water and equipped with the carbon fiber microelectrode modified by cobalt nanoparticles have been compared to those observed in an aqueous solution of Co2+ cations. The movement of the adsorbed nanoparticles has been demonstrated by the feedback capacitance-potential method.
