Chlorophyll-a is an established indexing marker for phytoplankton abundance and biomass amongst primary food producers in an aquatic ecosystem. Understanding and modeling the level of Chlorophyll-a as a function of environmental parameters have been found to be very beneficial for the management of the coastal ecosystems. This study developed a mathematical model to predict Chlorophyll-a concentrations based on a data driven modeling approach.

In this study, a potential extracellular L-asparaginase was characterised from the Streptomyces griseus NIOT-VKMA29. Box-Behnken based optimization was used to determine the culture medium components to enhance the L-asparaginase production.

Six different parameters, pH, temperature, agitation speed, carbon source (raffinose), nitrogen source (tryptone), and K2HPO4, were chosen and used to construct 6-10-1 topology of feed forward neural network to study interactions between fermentation parameters and enzyme yield.

The bacteria subjected in the study were isolated from a highly competitive ecological niche of mangrove ecosystem.
Methods: The bacterium was characterized by phenotype besides 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.
The present work was aimed to investigate the impact of the solid substrates mixture on Fructosyltransferases (FTase) and Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) production. An augmented simplex lattice design was used to optimize a three component mixture for FTase production. Among selected substrates corn cobs has highest impact on FTase production followed by wheat bran and rice bran.

Comparative sequence analysis of purified CYP102A5 variant with respect to reported CYP102A5 (AAP10153) from Bacillus cereus ATCC 14579 revealed amino acid sequence changes at positions P245S and M318I of heme domain. The binding affinities of 15 selected human P450 probe substrates towards isolated CYP102A5 were analyzed in silico using a homology model together with molecular docking techniques to predict the human drug metabolism.
