Multitargeting: An Alternative Approach to Tackle Multidrug Resistance in Tuberculosis.

Background: The prevalence of drug-resistant organisms has steadily increased over the past few decades worldwide. Especially in tuberculosis (TB) disease, the problems of co-morbidity and the rapid emergence of multidrug resistance have necessitated the development of multitarget-based therapeutic regimens. Several multitargeting compounds against (Mtb) have been studied through novel tools but these have rendered reduced efficacy in clinical trials.

Alleviating the Neglected Tropical Diseases: Recent Developments in Diagnostics and Detection.

Background: Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are communicable diseases caused by a group of bacteria, viruses, protozoa and helminths prevalent in more than 145 countries that affect the world's poverty stricken populations. WHO enlists 18 NTDs amongst people living in endemic areas having inaccessibility to preventive measures. Steps to reduce the global disease burden of the NTDs need attention at multi-factorial levels.
