Background: Chewing involves jaw movements that propel cerumen along the ear canal. This mechanism may be reduced in dysphagia, especially for older individuals who are enterally fed. Those patients may be at a higher risk for cerumen impaction and may require longer hospital stays.

As such, habituation could be an important aspect to be evaluated within a sensory and cognitive assessment. The main aim of the present study was to validate an Italian version of the Sensory Habituation Questionnaire (S-Hab-Q), a self-report tool assessing how long an adult individual takes to adapt to daily sensory stimuli.

This study aimed to identify clusters of autistic children with a distinct pattern of attaining early developmental milestones (EDMs). The clustering of 5836 autistic children was based on the attainment of 43 gross motor, fine motor, language, and social developmental milestones during the first 3 years of life as recorded in baby wellness visits.

Emerging technological advancements provide avenues for detecting subtle, early indicators of autism from routinely collected health information. This study tested a model that provides a likelihood score for autism diagnosis from baby wellness visit records collected during the first 2 years of life.

The purpose was to understand APPS's typical morphologic appearance and associated clinical features.
Patients And Methods: A random generator selected 1000 adult patients from all 21516 chest CTs performed at urban outpatient centers from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been implemented in multiple fields of medicine to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. AI implementation in radiology, more specifically for breast imaging, has advanced considerably. Breast cancer is one of the most important causes of cancer mortality among women, and there has been increased attention towards creating more efficacious methods for breast cancer detection utilizing AI to improve radiologist accuracy and efficiency to meet the increasing demand of our patients.

This study aimed to develop a machine learning model to predict ASD diagnosis using infants' electronic health records obtained through a national screening program and evaluate its accuracy. A retrospective cohort study analyzed health records of 780,610 children, including 1163 with ASD diagnoses.

Pathology in the space of Retzius is more common than previously believed, especially as more cases are discovered with increased use of cross-sectional imaging. Knowledge of the anatomy of the Space of Retzius is crucial for identifying and distinguishing between benign and pathological findings.

Here, we capitalized on recently established designed 2D protein arrays to ectopically engineer cortical polarity of virtually any protein of interest during mitosis in various cell types.

We investigated the association of demographic factors and biopsy compliance following preoperative breast MRI with changes in surgical management in patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer.
Methods: A retrospective review of BI-RADS 4 and 5 MRIs performed across a health system from March 2018 to November 2021 for assessment of disease extent and preoperative planning.
Sensory over-responsivity (SOR) is linked with elevated anxiety and reduced family wellbeing. Family accommodation of anxiety relates with greater symptom severity and reduced intervention outcome. This study examined the contribution of child SOR and co-occurring anxiety symptoms to family accommodation and its consequences.

Recent advancements in machine learning techniques have been successful in generating functional sequences, outperforming previous energy function-based methods. However, these machine learning methods are limited in their interoperability and robustness, especially when designing proteins that must function under non-ambient conditions, such as high temperature, extreme pH, or in various ionic solvents.

Preliminary data from animal studies and some retrospective analyses suggest that anesthetic technique might affect the immune response during surgery and hence the risk of cancer recurrence. In 2015, experts called for prospective scientific inquiry into whether anesthetic technique used in cancer resection surgeries affects cancer-related outcomes such as recurrence and mortality.

The objective was to compare the safety of vedolizumab and ustekinumab therapies in older patients (>60 years) with inflammatory bowel disease. Methods: This retrospective study included patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis initiating vedolizumab, ustekinumab or anti-TNF therapy at >60 years of age.

We investigated transfer of artificial grammar learning in adults with and without dyslexia in 3 experiments. In Experiment 1, participants implicitly learned an artificial grammar system and were tested on new items that included the same symbols. In Experiment 2, participants were given practice with letter strings and then tested on strings created with a different letter set.

Purpose: The aim of the study is to learn the obstetrical outcome of women after laparoscopic niche repair.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study including all women after laparoscopic niche repair done by a single high-skilled surgeon, from July 2014 to March 2019. Data were collected from women's medical records and a telephone interview was performed to assess further symptoms and attempts to conceive, including pregnancy outcomes.
Background: Cognitive decline remains highly underdiagnosed despite efforts to find novel cognitive biomarkers. Electroencephalography (EEG) features based on machine-learning (ML) may offer a non-invasive, low-cost approach for identifying cognitive decline. However, most studies use cumbersome multi-electrode systems.

Environmental and lifestyle factors play an important role in the natural history of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. A group of international experts from the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases voted on a series of consensus statements to inform the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The recommendations include avoiding traditional cigarette smoking in patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, screening for symptoms of depression, anxiety, and psychosocial stressors at diagnosis and during flares (with referral to mental health professionals when appropriate), and encouraging regular physical activity as tolerated.
