We felt that it was both necessary and useful to complete what had been said and written on other occasions regarding our cases. This updating paper therefore contains the impressions arising out of expansion of our experience, some details of technique and above all a better designed therapeutic strategy that we feel will be more effective in solving the long-standing polymorphous problem of treatment of septic pseudoarthrosis.

Modern tendencies in the treatment of infected pseudarthrosis are discussed and compared with the methods of the recent past. Seventy four cases are analysed in detail. Fifty three were in the tibia, twenty six of which were treated by a standard modern technique consisting of osteomuscular decortication, excision of infected tissues and necrotic bone, external fixation and if necessary the addition of autoplastic cancellous grafts.

The clinical diagnosis of lymphangitic carcinomatosis of the lung has generally been confirmed by open lung or transthoracic needle biopsy, precedures with significant morbidity and mortality, particularly in patients with respiratory insufficiency. We present six cases of lymphangitic carcinomatosis diagnosed by transbronchial biopsy. Autopsy confirmation was obtained in 4 patients and ultrastructural confirmation of intralymphatic location of tumor in one.
