Nano-fibrillated bacterial cellulose (NFBC) has very long fibers (>17 μm) with diameters of approximately 20 nm. Hence, they have a very high aspect ratio and surface area. The high specific surface area of NFBC can potentially be utilized as an adsorbent.

Background: Amniotic fluid embolism is an unpredictable and sometimes lethal complication of childbirth. Fibrinogen γ-chain peptide-coated, ADP-encapsulated Liposomes (H12-(ADP)-liposomes), which were developed as a platelet substitute, may be useful to control postpartum hemorrhage with consumptive coagulopathy.
Objective: This study aimed to establish a hemodynamically stable amniotic fluid embolism animal model and evaluate the efficacy of H12-ADP-liposome infusion in the initial management of postpartum hemorrhage complicated with amniotic fluid embolism-involved coagulopathy.
Aim: To evaluate the association of intravenous fluid (IVF) therapy on the length of time from arrival at the emergency department (ED) until awakening in cases of acute alcohol intoxication.
Methods: This single-center, prospective, observational study was conducted in the ED of the Self-Defense Forces Central Hospital during October 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019. Patients with 1,000 mL bolus of lactated Ringer's solution and those without bolus were compared.

The size-specific dose estimate (SSDE) is used for radiation dose management in computed tomography (CT) and represents patient's absorbed dose more accurately than volume CT dose index. The relationship between SSDE and age or weight was investigated using 980 pediatric brain CT scans. Monolinear, power, and bilinear functions were fitted to the plots of SSDE against age or weight, and SSDE was estimated using the obtained functions.

Phantom experiments were performed to assess image noise with and without AEC, and indicated that AEC decreased differences in noise between slices of different section sizes. Retrospective analysis was conducted on 980 pediatric brain CT scans where the tube current was determined using AEC.

We investigated methods to estimate the standard dose for pediatric brain computed tomography (CT) using a small number of data. From 980 pediatric brain CT examinations, 25, 50, and 100 examinations were randomly extracted to create small, medium, and large datasets, respectively.

We investigated the relationships of radiation dose indices (volume CT dose index and dose length product) with age and weight, as continuous variables, in pediatric brain CT. In a retrospective analysis, 980 pediatric brain CT examinations were analyzed.

Case Presentation: A 50-year-old man was bitten on the right finger by . The next day, his right upper limb exhibited pronounced local manifestations of envenomation.
Use of the term male nurse is common in nursing wherever the practice setting may be, but no formal analysis has been done to illuminate the meaning of the concept. The term male nurse is often problematic to those referred to, as the label carries stereotypes that further marginalize this extreme minority in the nursing profession. The Nurse Registration Act of 1919 (UK) banned men from nursing de jure, whilst Nightingale's reform of nursing education established the same de facto years before.

Case Presentation: We present here a 29 week preterm boy admitted to the intensive care unit due to breathing difficulties and low birthweight. Following clinical, radiographic and ultrasound examination, he was diagnosed with duodenal obstruction and subjected to surgical treatment.
We examined the effects of fructooligosaccharides (FOS) on the reduction in the incisor iron content in gastrectomized rat. Twenty-eight 5- wk-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into two groups: sham operated (bSH) and gastrectomized (bGX). After 4 wk, each group was divided into two subgroups according to the presence or absence of 7.

We performed optical recordings and whole-cell patch clamp recordings to clarify respiratory neuron activity in the rostral pons of a brainstem-spinal cord preparation from a newborn rat. Inspiratory nerve activity was recorded in the 4th cervical nerve and used as a trigger signal for optical recordings.

The efficacy of the self-etching dentin primer was evaluated by measuring the wall-to-wall polymerization contraction gap width and the shear bond strength to the flat dentin surface. The contraction gap formation was prevented completely in the specimens primed with the 35 vol% TEGMA and 20% phenyl-P for 30 sec.

Gastrectomy-evoked osteopenia in the femoral metaphysis of rats can be prevented by the consumption of fructooligosaccharides (FOS). We examined the effect of FOS on the femoral neck. Twenty-eight 5-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into two groups, sham-operated (SH) and gastrectomized (GX).

Background Data: There have been few reports on microleakage at cavities prepared by Er:YAG laser irradiation.
Materials And Methods: A total of 30 cavities (class V) in human primary teeth were used.
Fourteen 5-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were equally divided into two groups, sham-operated and gastrectomized. Tetracycline and calcein were given to label dentine. Four weeks after surgery, blood was collected for measurement of serum iron, calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) and the mandibles and maxillae were then removed.

The efficacy of dentin adhesives was evaluated by SEM observation and by measuring the wall-to-wall polymerization contraction gap and dentin hardness before and after conditioning. The detailed mechanism of dentin bonding was the same in both primary and permanent teeth.

The xenoestrogenic substance bisphenol-A is widely used as a synthetic precursor of resin monomers, such as bisphenol-A diglycidyl methacrylate. Reports describing the release of bisphenol-A from polymerized resin into saliva have aroused considerable concern regarding exposure to xenoestrogen by dental treatment. The purpose of the present study was to demonstrate a reliable methodology of detecting the trace amounts of bisphenol-A in dental materials.

Five fractions, including intact cells, culture supernatant, culture filtrate, cell debris and lipid-enriched fractions, were prepared from the protozoan cells, and their hemolytic activities were assayed under various conditions. All the samples except culture supernatant had hemolytic activities, which were due to two different kinds of hemolysins.
