Background: We evaluated the prevalence of "heart stress" (HS) based on NT-proBNP cut-points proposed by the 2023 Consensus of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in asymptomatic patients with T2DM and hypertension or high-normal blood pressure (BP) eligible for SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) and/or GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP1-RA), drugs with proven benefits on reducing the incidence of HF, hospitalizations, cardiovascular events and mortality.
Methods: A cross-sectional multicentric study was conducted on 192 consecutive outpatients, aged ≥ 55 years, with hypertension or high-normal BP, referred to three diabetology units. NT-proBNP was collected before starting new anti-diabetic therapy.
Objective Real-life management of patients with hypertension and chronic kidney disease (CKD) among European Society of Hypertension Excellence Centres (ESH-ECs) is unclear : we aimed to investigate it. Methods A survey was conducted in 2023. The questionnaire contained 64 questions asking ESH-ECs representatives to estimate how patients with CKD are managed.

Notably, only about half of hypertensive patients manage to achieve the recommended blood pressure (BP) control. Main reasons for the persistence of uncontrolled BP during treatment are lack of compliance on the patients' side, and therapeutic inertia on physicians' side.

To simplify the CVR evaluation, we developed an integrated multi-language and free-to-use web application. This study assessed the agreement between the conventional method versus our web app.

In the last 40 years, the incidence of overweight and obesity almost tripled worldwide. The accumulation of "visceral" adipose tissue increases with aging, leading to several cardio-metabolic consequences: from increased blood pressure to overt arterial hypertension, from insulin-resistance to overt type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), dyslipidemia, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and obstructive sleep apnea.

The differential diagnosis of the acute exacerbation of COPD and/or heart failure (HF) in emergency settings is challenging due to their frequent coexistence and symptom overlap. Both conditions have a detrimental impact on each other's prognosis, leading to increased mortality rates.

In the cardiovascular (CV) field, several siRNAs have been developed in the last decade. Inclisiran has been shown to significantly reduce low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) circulating levels with a reassuring safety profile, also in older patients, by hampering proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) production.

In a real-life clinical setting, we evaluated the effects of generic written lifestyle advice, extrapolated from the 2018 ESC/ESH guidelines, and a beetroot-based nutraceutical on 24 h BP in a population with a high-normal office BP and low-moderate CV risk. (2) Methods: A longitudinal observational study was conducted in two ESH Hypertension Excellence Centres on 43 consecutive subjects with high-normal BP according to repeated office BP (OBP) measurements and a low-moderate CV risk based on SCORE2/SCORE2-OP.

Generally, it is characterized by interstitial pneumonia that can lead to impaired gas-exchange, acute respiratory failure, and death, although a complex disorder of multi-organ dysfunction has also been described. The pathogenesis is complex, and a variable combination of factors has been described in critically ill patients.

Therefore, in this study we aimed at both validating NLR as a predictor of death in older hospitalized patients and assess whether the presence of specific acute diseases can modify its predictive value.
Methods: This prospective cohort study included 5034 hospitalizations of older patients admitted to acute care units in the context of the ReportAge study.
It is essential to establish both the appropriateness of palliative care (PC) and the prognosis in daily clinical practice to guide decision making in the management of older people with multiple advanced chronic diseases. We assessed patients who were appropriate for PC using the NECPAL tool in a hospitalized older population and then we investigated its predictive validity on one-year mortality compared with the multidimensional prognostic index (MPI), a validated geriatric prognostic tool. Prospective cohort study.

Aim: We compared the CVR stratification estimated by the old SCORE and the SCORE2/SCORE2-OP using OBP and ambulatory blood pressure measurement (ABPM), and we evaluated the prevalence of LDL-C control, after calculating it using three validated equations, in outpatients referred for arterial hypertension.
Methods: A cross-sectional study on 1539 consecutive patients with valid ABPM.
Elevation of cardiac damage biomarkers is associated with adverse clinical outcomes and increased mortality in COVID-19 patients. This study assessed the association of admission serum levels of sST2 and H-FABP with in-hospital mortality in 191 geriatric patients (median age 86 yrs., IQR 82-91 yrs.

We evaluated the prevalence and characteristics of patient-reported muscle symptoms (PRMS) attributed to drugs/nutraceuticals in hypertensive patients, focusing the attention on statin treatment.
Methods And Results: Observational study on 390 consecutive outpatients.
Our study aimed to identify clusters of hospitalized older COVID-19 patients according to their main comorbidities and routine laboratory parameters to evaluate their association with in-hospital mortality. We performed an observational study on 485 hospitalized older COVID-19 adults (aged 80+ years). Patients were aggregated in clusters by a K-medians cluster analysis.

The activity of National realities such as the LIPIGEN (LIpid transPort disorders Italian GEnetic Network) Paediatric Group, founded in 2018, is a milestone in this context. The aim of this exploratory survey, conducted in October 2021 among Italian lipid clinics included in the LIPIGEN Paediatric Group, was to investigate the current clinical approach in the management and treatment of paediatric patients with suspected FH.

Forty-eight hours after the second injection of alirocumab, the patient developed a painful palpable injection site reaction (ISR) that recurred after the third administration of the drug. Treatment was then switched to evolocumab, another PCSK9i, but the patient had an ISR with similar features.

This study aimed to understand if CMV reactivation in older COVID-19 patients is associated with increased inflammation and in-hospital mortality. In an observational single-center cohort study, 156 geriatric COVID-19 patients were screened for CMV reactivation by RT-PCR.
