Introduction: The shock index pediatric adjusted score (SIPA) predicts the need for blood transfusion (BT), hemorrhage control interventions (HCI), morbidity/mortality among older pediatric trauma patients but is less predictive in younger patients. We hypothesize that SIPA will be predictive among older pediatric patients for BT, HCI, mortality, and need for trauma intervention (NFTI), however we aim to further delineate the gap in utilizing SIPA in younger patients.

Methods: Using the ACS NTDB for 2017-2021 we evaluated patients 1-14 years old who were transported by EMS from the scene for definitive care.

Schwannomas are benign peripheral nerve sheath tumours with a low risk of malignant transformation. About 25%-40% are in the head and neck region with the posterior third of the tongue being a rather rare site of its growth, and a lesion at this site is understandably difficult to approach and treat. Being benign and encapsulated, surgical excision is in the mainstay of treatment.

Introduction: Peri-intubation hypotension is associated with increased hospital length of stay and morbidity. Propofol is associated with alterations in hemodynamics. We hypothesize that using propofol for induction leads to peri-intubation hypotension in trauma critical care patients.

Impact of CeO modified cathode and PANI modified anode on tannery wastewater fed microbial fuel cell performance.

Microbial fuel cell (MFC) technology is getting acceptance as an emphatic, sustainable and energy efficient alternative of conventional wastewater treatment strategies. MFCs utilize exoelectrogens as biocatalysts to degrade the complex organic substances present in wastewater with simultaneous power generation. Introduction: Literature shows failure of the outpatient clinic (OC) pathway after emergency department (ED) ultrasound diagnosis of symptomatic cholelithiasis (SC). We hypothesized SC to be more prevalent on final surgical pathology (FSP) in patients who successfully completed OC pathway.

Methods: This retrospective single-institution chart review compared OC and ED patients with right upper quadrant (RUQ) pain and cholelithiasis whom underwent cholecystectomy.

Materials and Methods Gold nanoparticle-based near-infrared probes (Aurelia-1 and 2) that are optoacoustically active and spectrally distinct for simultaneous MSOT imaging were synthesized and conjugated to TRA to produce TRA-Aurelia-1 and 2. Freshly resected human HER2-positive ( = 6) and HER2-negative ( = 6) triple-negative breast cancer tumors were treated with TRA-Aurelia-1 and TRA-Aurelia-2 for 2 hours and imaged with MSOT.

A Retrospective Case Control Study Examining Procalcitonin as a Biomarker for Necrotizing Enterocolitis.

Procalcitonin (PCT) is a biomarker for sepsis, but its utility has not been investigated in necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Nano-Silica Bubbled Structure Based Durable and Flexible Superhydrophobic Electrospun Nanofibrous Membrane for Extensive Functional Applications.

Nanoscale surface roughness has conventionally been induced by using complicated approaches; however, the homogeneity of superhydrophobic surface and hazardous pollutants continue to have existing challenges that require a solution. As a prospective solution, a novel bubbled-structured silica nanoparticle (SiO) decorated electrospun polyurethane (PU) nanofibrous membrane (SiO@PU-NFs) was prepared through a synchronized electrospinning and electrospraying process. The SiO@PU-NFs nanofibrous membrane exhibited a nanoscale hierarchical surface roughness, attributed to excellent superhydrophobicity.

Violence against health care workers in rural areas of Sindh, Pakistan.

Objective: To determine the magnitude of violence against healthcare workers in a rural setting, and the consequences of this violence on their personal and professional lives.

Methods: The descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional study was conducted in 4 rural districts of the Sindh province of Pakistan from February to December 2019, and comprised healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, support staff and field workers. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire.

Given the carcinogenic properties of formaldehyde-based chemicals, an alternative method for resin-finishing cotton textiles is urgently needed.
